I am, and the shitty combat is infuriating me to no end.
It's not the damage, mind you, I've played VC a lot, but there's just way too much shit to ruin any fun you could get out of it, between the bugs and the massive leap in combat rules between what the player can do and what NPCs can do, forcing me to cheese almost every 1v1, it's just far from fun.

I bought it and was really looking forward to it, but the gamepad control scheme doesn't even really have options for going through the tactics menus and shit so I literally can't even tell my troops to charge or do anything but move to a specific location.

I'll try it again when they fix that shit, cause no way am I playing with a keyboard and mouse.

These basically.
Slow, spammy, your weapon passes through your enemy with little/zero effect. No hit-stop or hit-stun. Few moves. Hits have zero impact and the feedback is shitty.
I was honestly expecting a major combat overhaul from Warband, but really little has changed from the slippery/shitty fit and finish of the original.

If you judge M&B on the combat I think you're missing the point. At its core it's a grand strategy game with a combat minigame that becomes increasingly irrelevant as you level up and you start spending most of your focus in battles managing troop formations.

Enable cheats
Enable the face debugger

I crushed every campaign literally charging with calvary and skirmishers. There is nothing strategic about it, especially when you can easily take out 50 men by yourself.

Why would a game not be judged on a major component of its gameplay? I understand why M&B gets a pass with shit combat, but its combat is not beside the point; people just have different expectations and different standards for what they want.

THE MOUSE POSITION IS NOT REGISTERED UNTIL YOUR CHARACTER HAVE FINISHED HIS ANIMATION
The result is that your attack won't go in the right direction if you ever so happen to move your mouse as the animation finished.

I usually try to avoid early access games with a few exceptions here or there, RoR 2, Noita, and the like.
I think I might give the original a go in the mean time.
I've only ever played the demo of the original and it was on a shitty laptop so I both didn't know what I was doing and it ran like garbage.
For the most part I'm almost entirely still in the dark on this franchise.

memory leak still exists despite the patch notes lieing and saying they fixed it. can't play more than 25 minutes without restarting.

I don't know why, but I just can't the hang of melee combat in this. Never had either of these issues with Warband, but maybe I'm just fucking retarded. It feels like the character is only using the direction I want when he feels like it. I also suck at landing hits on horseback. I'm guessing that's just because the hit boxes are better defined and you have to be more accurate with your swings?

The notes don't lie. They say A cause was fixed, not ALL OF THE CAUSES.

And honestly the entire combat is currently just broken, swings goes through enemies, NPCs can't be staggered by you, combat recovery is way too short, shields stop becoming solid during the blocking animations, etc... There's a massive list of issues.

Too many patches and hot fixes for new games to bother pirating yet.
