I think Nintendiapers don't really understand what this sort of content is all about. The point isn't that some guy thinks Mario looks good running along a realistic UE4 deer. The point is that they are constantly shown up by utter fucking nobodies fucking around with UE4 or Unity in their bedrooms, because Nintendo is YEARS behind on any sort of technological achievement. Which is understandable because before the Switch they were basically working with souped-up GameCube hardware for over a decade, but still. Now with the Switch they're working with souped-up tablet hardware, and it ensures that their games can't ever actually be innovative because they don't have the technology to innovate. So indies and other companies are producing shit on par with them.
Super Lucky Fox's tales or whatever it is. Hat in Time. Made by fucking nobodies, and yet it's on par with what Nintendo puts out. Hell Steam is awash with Mario Maker clones. Yet it doesn't sell. Not because it's poorly made, no, it's made just as well as Nintendo's shit.
It doesn't sell because it doesn't have a funny red plumber on the front. Nintendo doesn't get by on their own merits, they get by off of brand recognition alone. And that's why no one likes Nintendo but people who love the Nintendo brand.
