Fuck AMD. I bought an RX VEGA 56 last summer for E£8500 (Around $500.), and it's constantly fuckin crashing. Not just me, they have those issues in the "Known issues" section of each driver update. Fuck AMD.

That being said, I rarely update. I'm on 7-month old drivers and they work fine in new games.

The newest ones. Unless they cause major issues, then you go back a driver and see if those cause issues. Keep doing that until you find one you like. Then go to the newest the next time they update to see if they work. Being on an old GPU with nvidia means half baked testing. They only care about 20xx.

I am currently OK 20.4.1. Crashes and black screens are much less frequent, but they're still there. Especially in UE games, like DmC. It works fine... Then crashes.

I don't know if what I'm doing is wrong and I'm just falling for corporate memes, but I always update to the latest drivers (not from the launcher, I always do a registry clean and full installation) because it's always related to the latest games and the drivers always says how it's going to "OPTIMIZE NEW GAME." Latest driver for Nvidia was just that for DOOM Eternal and I downloaded because of it.

True. But, sadly, this is a lesson that I have to pay for with 10 years of saving. I've been saving to get a good PC for about 10 years, then I looked around, and everyone was sucking AMD's dick. Everywhere. For every component. I got a Ryzen 5 3600X, and the RX VEGA. I honestly wish I could go back and SLAP myself before buying either of the two.

Never install GeForce experience. It will cause you nothing but software conflicts. Unless you're doing some serious full-screen meme shit with adaptive resolutions and forced HDR it's a good idea never to fucking install that garbage.

i've been doing it ever since they added telemetry and haven't had any problems. i never used any of the other programs anyways that's why all i wanted was the display driver and physx.

I just upgraded from 6600k to 3900x as it made a lot of sense over going i9. Saved some money for more cores, better temps and much better multicore performance. But if you already had a 9000-series intel the jump wouldn't make much sense. Fuck AMD gpu's though. I'm hoping to see their next lineup do better than this new rx5000 shit.

It is a meme. I'm on a mid 2019 drivers and all the new games run fine on my 1080 Ti. I only ever update if I run into issues or re-install Windows.

Since 2014, it's been only Windows re-installs that made me update.

will AMD ever recover their GPU from havint appalling driver support? I mean, Nvidia is no better when it comes to extra features, like hairworks or advanced physics of Borderlands/X-COM shooter, but they're consistently having stable performance in both old and new games (once you find that stable driver version for your card)

i had two AMD cards - constantly having some ridiculous micro issues (like poor performance after wake-up, some games not wanting to boot at all). Never ever (unless they release some serious killer card, like they did in mid-2000s with Radeon 9*00 series - cheap and powerful af... then again it was Radeon company back then)
