The model doesn't look like something you were meant to see up close anyway. Even then it's not like Gordon was some manly icon, he was still a lanky ass scientist and the only thing he was doing since the end of HL1 was sitting in stasis due to the G-Man. Gordon Freeman is not a hero, he was some guy who was just extremely lucky to have the HEV suit and make his way through Black Mesa alive.
