Breaks

Gold is a very weak metal so it makes sense that gold tools breaks.

Does this game has diamonds?

Wait, even the golden tools break? Wtf?

Wait golden tools break too? What's the point then?
This game is fucking garbage.

Even tools like fishing rods break now. Makes no sense.

it feels like theres no point to breakable tools in this game. does nothing but add busywork and occasionally make you miss out on a bug or fish because your rod/net broke

Do you actually think I'm going to read all of that?

The game's auto saves are fairly spread apart. If your golden tool breaks just quit the game and customize it to restore durability. Resetti won't mind.

You can recolour your tools to reset their durability

>we want the breath of the wild audience

yeah i fucking hate this mechanic. is it hard to get gold tools or is it the same as in old games? i only have the wood tools and then the basic iron ones. also where did the easter bunny go? i cant find him anymore after the first day he was here

sorry, here's an image so you don't have to read!

>have a billion wood and iron
>tool breaks
>make another tool
Oh noooooooooo.

You can't recolour gold tools.

Oh
That's stupid then

That piece of shit game is going to ruin an entire generation of games with that durability garbage.

There isn't other then to waste your time on collecting materials to remake the damn thing.

BotW gave you some many weapons at all times though, the point of the game was playing like in Super Hot. And the weapons scaled with the game progression anyway, so you can't even bring arguments like "oh yeah replace my super rare elemental weapon with a stick".

In this game durability makes no sense though.

yeah as much as i like the game then the durability thing is so fucking annoying, at least make the gold tools last

>muh epic breakable tools so realistic
I hate this shit, it doesnt add anything to the game, other than being an annoyance
a couple hours in you already materials out the ass to craft hundreds of thiese shitty little things, but having to run to the bench, and pressing a button to watch an animation play out and get a new tool never fails to fucking annoy me

>waste hours just crafting tools because devs are too lazy to add actual content to the game so they ended up padding the game with stupid waste-of-time mechanics

>waste-of-time mechanics
Yes, that's what animal crossing is.

yeah but waiting is soooo rewarding! ^_^

Fishing rods break all the time in real life, you dumb fuck, go outside

you can't customize axes at all, have people tried with the other tools?

It's not too bad. Just keep a second tool on hand if you use it a lot. This isn't BotW where so much as sneezing on a weapon breaks it. They last a significant amount of time. I don't think gold should break but it is what it is. I'm sure they last a long time since even normal tools last a while.

I'm going to ask the obvious question, but what's the point of the different tools?

Basic bitch flimsy axe - Can hit a tree three times to yield three logs of whatever wood
Iron axe - Can only hit a tree twice for two logs, the third will chop the whole tree down

based materials science user

NOOOOOOOOOO NOT MUH PRECIOUS WEAPONS WAAAAAAAAAAH WAAAAH FIX IT NINTENDIE FIX IT NOW RIGHT NOW

flimsy and stone are for harvesting wood when you don't want to chop the whole tree down, seems fairly obvious

Stone axes are for gathering wood while the iron is for cutting the tree down.

You use the stone axe when you just want wood and don't want to chop the tree down. It's good for materials.
The regular axe you use to get rid of the metric fuckton of trees that populate your island starting out.

I feel like I'd have less of an issue with it if there was a meter

They did so many things right with this Animal Crossing but royally fucked it's own ass hard with this durability mechanic for the tools, ESPECIALLY with the golden tools of all damn things. I was hoping the golden ones wouldn't break because up until now, they were your end game reward for doing everything but knowing they break is such a fucking turn off, holy shit. I like the idea of introducing crafting but making the tools a part of it? C'mon dawg

Attached: 1452214826338.jpg (401x487, 108.98K)

Even a visual indicator like a slight break in the rod or a chip on the shovel / axe, small tears in the net etc could be cool.

Right because then you could comfortably use a customization kit to fix it, right, but then that would make too much sense and you should know better. Actually making too much sense would be to remove durability on standard tools or at least the fucking golden ones, christs sake.

you have to hit a rock for 15 minutes straight for it to break

We used to have a chip in the axe, they should have done that really.

BUT IT STILL BREAKS IS THE POINT

>tools break in 5 seconds
>can reset it through customization but you dont have a tool health bar
what is the point of making the game intentionally inconvenient like this? do you guys find this "comfy"?

so? just craft another one. It's not like gold nuggets are ultra rare.

Look, I'm trying to be mad about something, just let me be an angry mess about this trivial shit please.

Right, I mean I dont think the devs are lazy by any means and I think the game is very well made but there are some kind of bizarre design decisions or oversights like that. Same with the 300 balloon glitch, the whole egg event seeming like a rushed after thought, the kind of confusing language around villagers moving in and out. Idk maybe becasue im a designer as a career I overthink this stuff but it seems like even with the positive changes they made some big stuff was overlooked.

Man, I eve assumed that, after making your way throughout the game, the gold tools would be rewards for your hard work. These (should have been) unbreakable tools would help you gather materials for all the other DIY projects.

Why do gold tools break?
This is the dumbest fucking shit.

when rods and nets break at the same rate iron ones do you better fucking believe you won't have enough gold to replace them

I just think back to before release when all the secondaries kept telling me that the series was stale and it needed crafting to breathe new life into it
I hope all of you who said that shit feel as fucking stupid as you truly are

How hard is it to finally develop a gold axe? I remember it being a convoluted setup to earn it in the original Animal Crossing.

You can't find gold nugs as often as I feel you're trying to imply. There's 100% no excuse to make the golden tools breakable. It's a pure inconvenience in ever aspect. You can like and enjoy the game all you want but don't be silly.

>>waste hours just crafting tools
This. Having to alternate mashing A and L+R for two straight hours just to craft one metal axe is really extreme. What the fuck, Nintendo?

I like crafting and I even like having tools break. That said they need add some sort of indication of when it is close to breaking.

That said, having gold tools break is bullshit. Aren't the gold tools supposed to be an endgame reward? How many hits does it take to break?

Did you also complain about the master sword "breaking" in BotW which
>took forever to do so
>it only had a 10 minute cooldown before it went back to full health

You're not going to be breaking gold tools every 10 minutes.

>BotW
was a trash game yes

Ok keep making excuses for shitty game design. Keep looking for poor reasons to excuse horrendous things. Stupid nigger.

I'm fine with the breakable tools, but the highest tier of tools shouldn't break otherwise it makes the reward of getting them feel pointless.

As far as bugs, they've got a pretty fast response time. You can blame them shipping out like that on the modern dev cycle in general. Nothing is tested as thoroughly as it used to be. Axe chipping probably got overlooked because every item breaks now and it used to be nothing else did that. So they all have the singular poof animation. Not defending it or anything, I hope they make changes.

He's right for the most part. I've gotten like 12 gold nuggets so far. And that's without feng shui. I need solid numbers on how much more durable they are, but the axe apparently takes fucking 15 minutes to break so I'd say they're probably at least 3x as durable.

The 300 balloon glitch has been fixed now thankfully.

Broke a damn good pole in Florida after a shark nabbed my fish and got hooked.

why ever bother crafting an axe again if you just get the gold one that will never run out? You just render the entire system null

Why didn't you catch it dude, you would have gotten a double-fish

>You just render the entire system null
that's the point, the gold tools should be super hard to obtain but be much better than regular tools and not break
Instead they're easy to obtain but still suck

Attached: 1525895176076.png (200x234, 16K)

Because you already spent months crafting axes? Isn't that enough to deserve a permanent one? Golden tools aren't something you get easily unless you're a cheaterfag.

because if you play the game long enough to break 100 axes you're done with the shitty system, at least mentally

>Golden tools aren't something you get easil
it was 5x harder to get them in previous titles

>the gold tools should be super hard to obtain
and that's the point, they're not. They're incredibly easy to get.

Right, I get from a silver lining they don't break as fast, I get that. But the fact that they break at all is a problem. You shouldn't have to endlessly craft your tools, regardless if they take longer to break or not, you all keep arguing the wrong shit.

Ah I wasn't aware it was easier to get them. In that case, what the other user said. It should be harder but the reward should be greater.

and that sucks, they're ruined twice

what the fuck does this mean

It disrupts the flow of the game, forcing you to either:
1. Go back home to craft more tools unexpectedly.
2. Shit up your island with crafting benches in every area for easy access.
3. Waste inventory space carrying duplicate tools.

It adds nothing to the game and it's not fun, it's just obnoxious and disruptive for no reason. Yes, Animal Crossing is all about grinding and choring but there's a fucking line, man.

Tedium has always been apart of the animal crossing experience

Or waste inventory space carrying customization kits. If retards want to go out of their way to defend a shitty system, let them. You can't fix stupid.

Well, I tried. For like 35 minutes of fighting it but I pulled it up too much at a bad angle and my rod snapped. I wasn't fishing for a shark either. So I'm surprised it lasted that long.

by the time you get a golden tool in older games you're already done with the game

The shovel, net, and rod are still fuccking hard, or at least, take an extremely long time. Getting essentially a downgraded version as a reward is going to feel like a complete slap in the face

>Tedium has always been the animal crossing experience

Fixed.
