Sony bro here. Not only am I avoiding the first iteration of the console, I'm avoiding it altogether. It's the PS3 2.0. The previous generation has a ton of games available, and they will only become cheaper once the PS5 launches. There's no reason to buy a brick that will become outdated in a year.
They can't sell cheap ass remasters if the players can just pick up their old CDs/DVDs/etc and play all those potential gold mines.

it doesn't actually play them natively, it uses the disc as drm and downloads an emulated copy of the game. they can emulate older consoles easily because they never did dumb shit with their hardware like sony and the INFINITE POWER OF THE CELL.

Wii emulation is actually pretty decent. You're even able to use actual Wii remotes, which helps as mapping motion control otherwise would be ass.
