Is there any genre you'll never understand or respect?
Is there any genre you'll never understand or respect?
battle royale
Do you really not get why is autobattler genre popular?
I entirely get it, see the respect part of my post
You posted it. My fucking room mate is playing fucking tft right now too.
Battle royale is a great genre, there just no good games in it yet, they need to stop this fps/tps only faggotry and get creative.
What is there to not understand? It's crack-cocaine for video games. Not respecting it is fine, but not being able to see why people like it makes you an idiot.
You have to make quick decisions with limited options while having full information of your opponenets. You get risk-reward ups and downs almost every round, you have to plan in advance based on each round, grow in power over multiple rounds, and there are clear strategic differences in early, mid, and late game approaches. It's an entire SP experience in 30 minutes with no story and is also competitive.
It's inherintly not competitive. Thanks for the nothing-post.
> I totally get it, refer to the last part of my post as I backpedal out of inplying I didn't understand it in the first part
>It's inherintly not competitive
I have never heard of any of these but Auto Chess is obviously the best one.
multiplayer only, card games, game like civilization
I guess the RNG babbies who aren't good at any other genre that has ever existed just woke up.
Fuck all of you, really.
The rng really ruins the genre for me.
How is it not competitive? It's basically a battle royale format where you try to beat everyone else in the lobby. Did they change something about it?
MMOs and trading card games
kek
Idle mobile games (where you don't actually play and just unlock shit every every few hours).
Any game where you win by rolling the dice over and over isn't competitive.
This quarantine really has underage posting dumb shit over and over.
If I had to break it down for a brainlet (I don't, you're lucky)
I don't understand why anyone would devote time to this. There's no skill ceiling, there's no measure of improvement. There's no way to practice. You just hope shit works out for you.
This shit is for mouthbreathers. Why play a game like this?
>kpop gif
underage and / or literal bugman retard
you are the target audience
It's called risk management, faggot, and it's a skill. It improbable that RNG loses you two games in a row. There's a ranking system in most of these for points, and there are people who are consistently at the top of that system. That's not RNG. Sounds like you're just mad that you're a brainlet.
Long ass grind jrpgs and korean mmos. They seem like a huge waste of time with little pay off.
Rolling the dice over and over makes you lose in most cases. You're supposed to take what you've been given and make the best with what you've got, while rolling in specific instances that are calculated risks. That's competitive.
You sound like someone who's salty they can't wrap their head around the simplest of formulas. All of those things absolutely not true. Dude, you don't even need to be that aware to at least understand the basics of this genre and how to be better at it. Stop posting before you hurt yourself.
I don't know what those games are but that little archer is cute, I bet her game is the better than the edgy ones.
I'll never understand or respect MOBA games, mobile games, and battle royales.
There was Battlerite royal but it didnt seem to work.
I have no idea man.
Like I'm not shit posting at all. I have nothing against this genre I just fucking don't get it at all.
I tried the DOTA one and what the fuck it's so fucking weird.
I place my little characters on the board, and I have to select several of the same type apparently ? Then I click on play, and some shit happens and they tell me to select items ?
Fuck me I didn't get it at all.
I didn't play the BR but battlerite never really took off so it makes sense, even though i really liked the game
I honestly don't.
but it died like 1month after release, games fun for few weeks
is battlerite the skullgirls of mobashit?
Is skullgirls a really good game that deserved more love than it gets? If so, yes.
The enemies are objectively playing a better-designed and easier game than you. In what other franchise would your character be unable to walk/roll over a 4 inch tall tree branch on the ground? A lot of its difficulty comes from things that are intentionally counter-intuitive and don't behave in a way that makes sense.
>can't guard attacks coming from above
>enemies can spin 360 degrees during the downswing of their heavy attacks, ensuring you can't avoid them just by walking out of the way like in, say, Monster Hunter
>the aforementioned insurmountable ankle-high tree branch
>your attacks bounce off walls but enemies' don't
>multiple other examples of unrealistic/unfair bullshit
>you're not allowed to criticize any of these poor design choices because you are supposed to already know which tree branches are magnetic, even though that's not a realistic gameplay mechanic or legitimate challenge, and it is not reasonable to expect it of the player
Old good new bad
BOOMER THREAD
i really thought it would explode, due to the fact that people just seem to love brawling in these mobas. goes to show that people will always just flock to the popular title.
>card games aren't competitive
>t. user
MMOs. Is there even one (1) popular MMO that isn't some ugly clunky piece of shit designed to run on laptops from 2002 with a gorillion text boxes and icons all over the screen and braindead gameplay meant for retarded women and trannies with exclusively fetch quests? And people pay a monthly subscription for this shit?
it's just a different battleroyale format what's hard to understand?
I respect all genres and understand that people can have different tastes and skill sets that would make them prefer certain games
I love playing TFT. Scratches the itch I had for meme strategy games like tower defense ones. And this new set is great. Yeah I understand Yas Forums hates it because it got too popular like battle royales and has RNG, but whatever it's fun and has a lot of replayability.
Ragnarok
but it's dead now and you can only play the zombie versions in private servers
I just don't understand why they don't just make a regular fun game mixed with massive online multiplayer instead of intentionally making the most unfun bullshit imaginable and riding off of "but you get to see a bunch of other sweaty faggots ~*online*~"
Your mistakes are pretty obvious in battlerite, when you get fucked by your opponent you can't pretend you did everything right, moba players can't deal with it, they have to blame the team.
>Played Fortnite, Apex Legends, and PUBG
>99.999999% of the time I just wandered around thinking "Where the fuck is everyone??"
No idea how this genre got popular.
uh, swtor?
>Barely any text boxes unless you want extra lore - every quest has a cinematic
>It's not about fetching, but killing X NPCs.
>Icons/Nameplates/the whole fucking UI can be disabled
>You can adjust your quest difficulty if you find combat to be too ez
>Free. Sub for 1 month to unlock ALL of the content released until now, which will remain unlocked forever
This and Planetside (if it can be called an MMO) are the only online games I keep returning to once or twice in a year.
I don't understand why people say some auto battlers are braindead, haven't played others, only TFT, but the game isn't mindless, you can totally play it mindlessly, like literally every other game in existence but you will get punished and won't get top 4 unless you rely entirely on luck.
Off the top of my head. You have to scout constantly so you can roll for uncontested units and comps, know how to and when to e-con when you are dealt a bad hand or a good hand, knowing the meta helps, knowing the best items for the best situations, saving items for top 4 so you can counter enemy comps, then positioning is a complete different subject that's not enough to explain because it varies from your comp and the enemy comp.
That's all strategy skill, then for mechanical skill hyper rolling is quite difficult, you can easily miss tier 2 or 3 units by not being fast enough. So at the end, the game easily has enough of a skill ceiling and variables to keep track of to be competitive, and I mean the RNG is not different from a card game. You can high roll in card games and win out of that, same in TFT you can get top 2 with luck, but a good player can get himself to top 4 with a bad hand that would have make him top 6, and so on, it's not mindless at all.
ASSFAGGOTS
that was ragnarok before it diead
battle royal
shooters
fighters
souls games
Everything else is fine. Autochess is the high IQ chad game where you have to think pretty fast.
I like mobile games, because every time I boot one up I start thinking what the fuck am I doing with my life and then proceed to do something productive.
I rarely get same moments of lucidity while playing on PC, which is why I always have a gacha or some shit installed on my smartphone.
MOBA. It's just a multiplayer tower defence, which itself is just a shitty barebones RTS.
I tried a lot of them, some with friends and I was bored to tears every time.
as far as i can tell the moba genre is just a super watered down rts. you only have to control one unit, the economy runs in the background, its not 1v1 so if you lose you can just blame your teammates
>MOBAs.
I don't understand the appeal. When I see people playing it, they never seem to be enjoying themselves, they're constantly salty.
>Movie Games
The writing is trash, the gameplay is trash, and you aren't even playing them really. If you enjoy these, you're a fucking shallow pleb
>Guitar Hero-likes
Learn a proper instrument or play a proper rhythm game bitch
>weeb RPGs
Waifufaggotry is pathetic. The writing is shit (with lots of aforementioned waifufaggotry), the visuals are absolutely horrible from the hideous designs to the uncanny doll-eyed 3D animu artstyles, while the gameplay is either long-winded autism or straight up gachashit.
(Proper classical JRPGs are not included)
>Map Painters (I.E. Paradox shit)
I've got lots of friends who tried to get me into this. The gameplay is usually obtuse, but also piss easy and very cheese-able once you understand the systems. The newer the game, the less it feels like some sort of history sim, and more like a shit boardgame.
Also DLC faggotry
>Online Card Games
Do I even need to explain myself?
>Nu-Fire Emblem
Does anyone actually play these games for the actual game, or do they just whack it to waifus? I can't believe Nintendo Wars had to die for this shit.
>Gachashit
Seriously, everyone who posts in those DOA threads should be shot.
>doesn't get fighters
>thinks autobattleshit is high iq
k brainlet
JRPGs where you're playing as established character, can't make any choices, or any typical role-playing stuff other than maybe placing skill points. I'm sure there are western RPGs that do this as well, but there are entire huge franchices such as Final Fantasy that go on rails and everyone has the same gameplay experience.
gacha games
Don't respect:
MOBAs
Card Games
Gacha
Battle Royales
Don't understand:
Fighters
I cannot comprehend how it's possible to execute series of combos while having normal human reflexes. There's too many commands my mind simply cannot grasp it.
Rhythm games.
Literally one of the stupidest posts in this entire thread, you even outdid the guy who doesn't understand how auto-battle games work.
>It's just a multiplayer tower defence
You mean except for the most defining mechanics of a tower defense game, building and upgrading towers and playing wave-based PvE?
Underlords Duos is some of the most fun I've had in years with my bro.
Would be hard to play it solo though.
>no skill ceiling
>top players come out consistently on top in ranked
>but no skill ceiling
Sorry it doesn't have a 0.2-1s parry window, the only thing Yas Forums considers a skill
