Watched Astartes recently and want to get into WH40K. What's the best vydia for that?

I was thinking of playing DoW1, should I start with that or skip to DoW2? Or play something else?

Dow1 and 2 are vastly different. Dow1 feels like an old rts like age of empires, dow2 is more about a few small squads. Both were enjoyable for me.

DoW1 is a good place to start if you like RTS
Mechanicus if you like Turn based
Space Marine if you like 3rd person actions/shooters
Gothic Armada if you like spaceships

There are not very many good 40k games, its one of the big injustices of our time.
Read the books.

i just finished dawn of war 2, and i am about to start chaos rising. its awesome and surprisingly difficult, especially since i accidentally blew up a shrine in dedication to my fallen brothers and my entire squad got corrupted.

From what little I read, it's very rich in lore and just seeing those fucking big monster fuckers (who apparently are just normal troops compared to the actual crusader types) was just amazing. A killing marvel.

The real good shit about W40k is actually W30k Horus Heresy. Read the novels or read synopsis of the setting and characters on 1d4chan. W40k is only fun until you realize how much refusing to advance the plot is hurting the narrative, at which point it's very hard to give a shit about it.

To be fair most designs in 40K are boring, only Space Marines, SoBs and Necrons are interesting.

Ruined what? W40k? There's a few semi-recent female unit designs but that's it. The setting was kind of overdue for them anyway. Fantasy Warhammer is getting Kislev now though and half the army seems to be females so who knows, maybe Game's Workshop is about to take an SJW turd over our favorite settings.

How is Inquisitor? I like the genre and 40k but I've heard the end-game is irredeemably shit which turned me off from it.

This post represents everything wrong with W40k fans. Even if GW sucks at advancing a plot, it still has to be advanced. The opinion of "HURR IT IS A SETTING FOR A TABLETOP GAME" is pure cancer, spoken like a true no-fun boomer. Also the Horus Heresy arc is amazing, only a boring faggot boomer could dislike it.

The setting is fine. That game specifically just feels stupid. If ever 4 major factions in the setting clash like that, it would be a monumental event in the setting's plot. I don't like these fanfic tier games that just say "lol wouldn't it be cool if 4 small factions of IG, SM, Necrons and Orks had to fight for land on a planet?

No it wouldn't be cool, the Imperium would just exterminatus the planet on the fucking spot and move on, it's retarded and the Necrons weren't made for such throwaway cameos.

This. I would love a full on remaster of DoW1. I put so many hours into it. Could never really get into DoW2 because of the "smaller unit" focus. Didn't even play 3, but from what I hear, it wasn't that great.
