Just beat it. So the ending and everything regarding the Arbiters and their defeat was just some overly complicated way for Kitase, Nomura, and Nojima to say "The story of FFVII Remake is no longer constrained by the original game's plot. Have fun in the next entry. Oh, btw, you like Zack, right? Be ready to shell out extra money for his scenario because we're not done milking him."
I hate how they did it but I kind of respect the absolute needless grandiosity of the whole thing. It's not enough for them to say "FFVIIR isn't just a Remake, but a version of the story you can directly change yourself." They had to introduce extra-dimensional timey wimey nonsense to the lore to justify any changes they or the player make to the story. It's so retarded, I actually find it kind of charming.
What would you rate it? I didnt play the demo. How's the gameplay?
Xavier Flores
That's what a remake is suppose to be. Using the original game and adding in or changing things that aren't in the original.
You can still play the original FF7 on PS4 and Xbone. It seems like people just wanted a lazy remaster of the original gam like the Crash Bandacoot trilogy, which while graphically looks different, is just the same game.
Even the directors said that they want people to compare the remake to the originial.

There are genuinely people who would be upset thinking it was overwriting the original game's canon (seriously just look at any fucking actual reboot movie, or even just DmC) so just saying "here the original game is still untouched in its canon enjoy this new take"

Gameplay is a solid 8/10. Voice acting is 7/10, but will probably get better. Story is wat/10, but whether that's a good or bad thing will depend on the next title.
Adam Ross
I don't find it charming because Nomura has been doing this for 20 fucking years straight.
Christian Kelly
That's nice, but I'd like my remakes to actually be good. If you're gonna fuck with the story, make something that's great, or at least as good.

I think the next title is going to allow the player to make choices that separate it from just being the original.
Like maybe you can do specific actions in the next game that allows you to save Aerith from her death. However, you can choose NOT to do those actions and allow her to iconic death scene.
That way, both sides get what they want without the fuckery of "pay this amount of money for DLC that saves Aerith's from dying"
Joseph Hughes
Any Krauts, Rösties or Mountain Banks here who have played the German dub? How is it?
Brandon Cox
I still think this is just a way for them to attempt to repackage Aerith's death. She'll die regardless but at a different point or in a different way. Its too iconic.
