JRPG Thread

Day 5 Lockdown Edition. What are you playing?
I got to Archades in FFXII and it's pretty crazy to have another huge city to explore so late into the game

replaying DQIII. I tolerated the ios port first time around but never really loved it. Emulated Snes version looks and sounds far better and actually has the DQ charm I was missing.

I cant be arsed with the post game of Mystery dungeon DX yet so what game should i play anons? I was thinking the atelier series

DQ3 should only be played on the SNES and GBC remakes. Both are great in their own right. DQ3 GBC is probably the best JRPG on the system

At this rate you're overtaking me. A chop for your efforts.

I think today I might take it easy and just play some Golden Sun Reloaded. Some user was talking about it in the thread yesterday and made me want to play it

What the fuck is reloaded

Is Bravely Default End Layer worth playing?

I was watching a trailer of the game and they are insane. Seriously makes me want to buy the game again

It's a fan made difficulty mod that adjusts the balance of the game and also adds new Psynergy. It won't be a cakewalk anymore after Saturos apparently

What are some underrated PS2 JRPGs? Just finished the first Shadow Hearts and loved it.

There's several, start with Metal Saga, that alone will keep you occupied for a couple of weeks.

I'm in the last couple of hours of FFIX on Vita. Feels comfy bros.

source of pic?

Thanks!

Maybe doing these threads early on in Eurotime isn't such a good idea.

I'm an early bird and the best conversations happen during eurotime

Playing Dream Drop Distance before I tackle KH3. Should I get the Re;Mind?

Don't forget to fight Hades user, he's in the bit where Quina starts drowning.

I'm currently playing ffx, just beat seymour flux by by spamming summon overdrives because I was tired of losing to him 3 times with unskippable cut-scenes.

Playing devil survivor 2 on the 3DS. It's a lot of fun so far but I want to recruit Fumi but I have no idea as to when I get her.

Imagine only being locked down for 5 days.
Imagine being a fucking newfag in a pandemic

Playing FFXII myself, but i only just finished the old king's tomb dungeon

I'm still reserving judgement on the gambit system and the game in general. Overall there's some really good shit, the narrative is intriguing and i love how the game looks, but at the same time it still feels kinda "on rails" for lack of a better word. The monster hunting is an interesting idea tho

I'm waiting for a 2ds to come in the mail since my regular DS finally shit the bed, and I held off on the 3ds during its initial period. Once I get it, I might finally go through Devil Survivor again since I got filtered early on, or finally give Covanant of the Plume a spin since it's been sitting on my shelf since release.

It opens up significantly after Raithwall's Tomb

That's unironically one of the hardest parts of the mandatory story

Well it's certainly a big world and the aforementioned hunts are already getting pretty spread out. We'll see i guess

Just enjoy the journey to Archades user

What's up with all the anons playing XII these days?
I kinda want to get the Switch version myself, but not for fucking $40 when I bought the PS4 version for less than that years ago.

I got a used copy for 20€

How hard does it get after seymour flux, do I need to grind and get all the ultimate weapons, I just want to get to the end of the story

I got it for $25 on the eshop sale

The original OP started with that so there has been a lot of people talking about it, outside of a couple of days ago when the OP was Unlimited SaGa and the thread somehow turned into a full blown SaGa thread.

I don't want to spoil too much, but there are 3 (4?) more fights at same difficulty of fucking bullshit
I don't think I ever needed to go out of my way to get the Ultimate Weapons, only if you want to do some of the side shit which will be pretty much impossible without them

IZJS for PS2 is the best FF12 version.
Don't @ me

Good times.

Piss easy except for one (1) fight where the gimmick is to NOT heal zombie status if you want to live

I've been playing Trails in the Sky. It got way better once I met Olivier.

>IZJS for PS2 is the best FF12 version.
Don't @ me

Currently playing Persona 5 Royal, only a few hours in but since I played the original the whole experience of the early game should breeze by.
Also playing DQ XI S at the part where you meet Jade. She's so fucking hot, bros.
I bought a copy of FFXII after seeing it recommended on here so much but haven't cracked it open yet. Feel like I have enough to play at the moment, tempting as it is.

Well, I don't like buying used copies, not for modern platforms at least, and don't buy digital. Guess my only option is to suffer.

You could do the world a favor and kill yourself, you fucking retard.

it's not like we're being drafted to war user

>start up Unlimited again
>load quick save
>don't remember jack shit about what I was doing

It's such a comfy game.
It'll plod along but it's worth it to have played though.
The best part is literally coming to know and love the characters.
I cried at the end, the only game to ever make me shed a tear.

>Start up The Last Remnant again
>Can't remember shit
Help

This is a problem with all the open ended RPGs around.
SaGa games are extra bad in that because you also have to deal with the mechanical baggage of each game, both PS2 suffer enormously from that.
On top of it all you have no journal whatsoever in Unlimited so you start up an old save file and have to check everything to understand what the fuck is going on and why are you even there, and I kind of love it for that.

Whats your

I prefer the FFX logo myself

To the user who told me to "get Nozuchi, retard" last thread - your wish is my command.
I checked his stats via Heretic Mansion 'cause I had assumed he was a void-force type of Demon, but I certainly don't mind having him drain Mazan either. Still gonna grind until I fetch his Rakukaja, though. God only knows I don't want shitty defense when entering that battle.

The price

How's Xenogears?
What's wrong with the mobile version? Thought those were the definitive versions

>$20 is too expensive for a 50-70 hour long JRPG
How utterly Yas Forums

Wait...I feel like we've been here before.

>What's wrong with the mobile version?
Nothing. People are just assblasted because it's on a mobile device and they can't pull their heads out of their asses and accept it as a perfectly viable platform that just happens to be filled with a bunch of nonsense shovelware and garbage.
which is no different than Steam or PS4 or Switch at this point

To make it worse, I'm in the Undercity with like half my LP gone.

It looks like shit.

>want to play jap games
>cant get over how janky list based combat is
wat do bros?

>I'm in the Undercity with like half my LP gone.
Hope you remember where all the switches are, and if you already activated them to disable the barriers.

you're dead on my screen

I've come across at least 4 in the dusty rooms, plus the two control rooms. Now I'm just trying to get my bearings while avoiding battles, to little success.

>I'm in the Undercity with like half my LP gone.
You're so fucked
