Guys how do I get into this? I played it for like 6 hours when it came out (without the dlc) and I remember nothing of it.

I'm also trying to figure out how the "online" part of it works. Do you get to run your steam friends' randomly generated worlds? Is there any other interaction between players?

Get the plus dlc since thats what everyone's playing. Base game is fine, but you won't be able to play with Yas Forums and its less balanced compared to plus.
You mostly try out different characters, difficulties and goals in this game.

Its still a single player game. You just see the ghost of dead players from the same world who heal you and give you a free item from their inventory.

Are shadows invisible on the hardest difficulty? This is my first time trying it.

I think they are invisible when they are more than 1 tile away from you. They often dissapear from view when I use abilities like Shadow Bind or Dash to gain some distance, but are fortunately only invisible and can be hit from a distance.

Just wasted a "This Monster is a Friend" on a Toll Collector just to find out it doesn't work on him. That was gonna be my ace in the hole for tackling the Demon Lord.

Only played original OWH. I could beat the game on hardest setting with every class, except hunter. Can't remember why at the moment but I struggled a lot with him.

I am not an expert on the differences, but OWH+ is a very different game.
And personally speaking I'd say the Hunter is really good in OWH+.

Plus has way, way more content in it. Which is really important for run variety.
Then there are QoL stuff that simply makes controlling the game smoother. And then you have more playable classes, endings and things to unlock.

Shadows are invisible unless they're right next to you. If you have Detection, you can see them at a distance like a regular enemy.

Hero absolutely needs Detection to not get instant killed by a super strong Shadow at unfortunate times.

IIRC, yes. Got a skill that makes arrows and a rapidshot skill. Don't think those were in the base game.

Also, you see that forest area on the bottom? Shadows tend to spawn in groups of those areas. There's also usually a couple chests in there.

First time defeating Dimensional Ruler on Inhumane Odyssey Maniac mode, was surprisingly easy, literally one-shot him after throwing a cursebone, vial of acid, using berserk, awakening, charge-up and finally bash with a Holy axe.

DAMMIT, I forgot to use my Mimic's tail, so I only did 222,278 damage instead of 444,556 damage! Life ruined, achievement forgotten.

Mila is very easy to kill by letting enemies attack the side she's on.

There is a sinner's town at around 1800, so better get bounty level 3 if you want to enter
