>8 years and still SEETHING.
Well Yas Forums let's talk about let's talk about BioWare's biggest fuck up Wasted Potential the Trilogy. Any news of another installment or are they really gonna end it at it's lowest point Andromeda?
Mass Effect Thread
Let's not.
I came late to the party and didnt think it was THAT bad, obviously its lazy as fuck and deserved all the hate but I like the whole series.
Likewise, I don't even really personally hate Andromeda, in fact replaying it because of Corona-chan and don't wanna blow money on anything new. Of course I can see why it's disliked which is why I'm hoping for another installment to set things right. This is NuBioWare though so idk.
oh fuck off
wait.. it's been 8 years?
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
The cracks were beginning to show with Mass Effect 2. Although most people thought it was better than ME1, the scope was dialed down to just an assemble-a-team story. The original ME was setting up such an expansive story arc and possibilities that they could have had many many many more games come out. Then ME2 just sort of truncated all of that to get to some sort of end. Then with ME3, they forgot to make an ending up until the last hour of the game.
ME1 is the best and I would avoid all of the follow ups.
Yeah, the more I replay the trilogy, the more I find myself enjoying ME3 for its references, callbacks, payoffs etc. I still think it's objectively the worst of the 3, but I've learned to look past it and enjoy it. Or maybe it's the nostalgia and just the characters carrying me through, who knows.
No it wasn't *that* bad, but based on the build up and potential, it was a let down.
I give it to nostalgia, likable cast, with good world building, and an okayish story, still biggest boner killer of an ending in the history of media.
>I don't even really personally hate Andromeda
There is a point where, leave people on anger enough, like Bioware did with the ME fanbase and that anger just turns to indifference. Look at the Star Wars fanbase. They can't wait for the next Disney Wars fuck up. From a fanbase health perspective, Bioware have found themselves in that spot, since ME3. ME3 was the TLJ of the ME franchise and Andromeda was just TRoS.
Been wanting to replay the trilogy for nostalgia reasons, but don't want to dust off my PS3, if it even works anymore. Thinking of getting it for PC but I want to play it from the convenience of my bed, would my work laptop have the specs given how old the original trilogy is? Also is it worth the $30 to rebuy? I saw a Hong Kong Origin key on Newegg for like $15, but don't know if it's on the up and up, or if they even just e-mail it to you. Real jew move to make the DLC separate too given it's age and don't want to blow to much money in case Corona-chan takes my job.
>The cracks were beginning to show with Mass Effect 2
The cracks began with ME3 entirely and its insistence to tackle a war with hundreds of thousands of kilometer long space squids, in a genre where you play as 3 guys on foot. It was a stupid idea then and it is a stupid idea now. The overheat system on the weapons was terrible and the tech wasn't around and still isn't, to make planet exploration via Mako enjoyable.
After all this time?
______ _______ ________ ___ ____ GOT YOU ____ __________ _________________ ______
It had potential to be great, it's still good but yes.
no u
Of course, if you are buying it for PC download the trilogy megapack torrent, it's too expensive to buy everything mass effect on origin.
1>>>>last 15 minutes of 3>>>>>>>>>andromeda
I have a slight urge to replay the games after all these 8 years but 2 and 3 are putting me off big time.
ME1 had the perfect use of small on foot teams, with a lot of focus on ruins that only on foot teams can explore safely. It was always going to be use some MacGuffin to save the galaxy type of story.
Mind spoon feeding this brainlet? Dont want to give EA my new gold if even indirectly.
Easiest I could find is going on fitgirl repacks site then downloading the torrents from there, the megapack I used doesn't have any seeds anymore.
Thank you good sir
The only hope for the series is if EA gives it to Respawn they could make a half decent Mass Effect game going by Fallen Order
Modern BioWare is a joke of a company that’s lost all its writing talent and can’t even properly polish their games anymore, a new game from them would be just as bad as Andromeda
AND I NEED YOU TO RECOVER
I'v never played it, is it worth getting? some user a couple of days recommended that I play GTA IV, I played it when it first came out and I didn't like it, I installed a couple of mods and it's pretty good, i'm really enjoying the ballad of gay tony. so is it worth trying out even if the it shits the bed at the end.
If you like sci-fi it's a great game series, forget about the ending as that's just less than 1 hour of the 70+ hour journey.Go for it.
Alternatively, you could get one of the ending overhaul mods to make it more bearable. It's not like anyone really believes RGB is the proper ending anyways. Devs even said so themselves, it was a scramble to cover for the leaked proper ending. I do wonder which mod comes closest to their original intent.
>If you like sci-fi it's a great game series
I do, i'll check it out, I need something to keep me sane with coronachan. I finished Dues Ex MD and the DLCs a couple of days agao, I know that got shit on as well when it came out, but it was good really felt like the Original game in terms of mechanics, looked great on Ultra Settings too, great world building, the main story was a bit weak but the side missions make it worth it.
Nobody wants to work on a Bioware franchise anymore. It's too damaged
There is nothing more pitiful than a ME3 apologist
>tfw you will never be hired by EA and get a AAA budget and carte blanche on development for a new Mass Effect game
>tfw you will never by Yas Forums's hero
If you can't come up with a better use of the Reapers and all you can come up with is Macguffins to end the trilogy, then you are just as creatively bankrupt as the people you praise for that bankruptcy.
I seriously hope they make a remake but change some things, specially that fucking god awful ending.
Mass Effect probably has my favorite Sci-fi universe, but with the way the third game ended I couldn't stand to go back to it.
ok then, lets hear your idea
Unless you redoo or create a meaningful sequel to ME3, there is no future for Mass Effect. Unless you plan to do Andromeda, again.
5 million dollars, first
I'm surprised daddy EA hasn't demanded BioWare to create a remake/remaster of the trilogy for easy shekels, probably waiting for the PS5.
>Devs even said so themselves, it was a scramble to cover for the leaked proper ending.
That's a shitty excuse. You do not ruin your game because it's been leaker. It's more about bad management
It would sell, a little. At best, it would renew the ME 3D porn scene. It doesn't save the franchise.
Surprised as well, considering a more open ended ending and keeping Shepard alive would have assured future sequels, considering Andromeda showed there was no interest with other protagonist and other galaxy as the setting.
They would have to change more than just the ending though, maybe bring back the original dark matter plot and build from there, maybe give the Illusive Man a more satisfying and less retarded conclusion as well.
>Andromeda showed there was no interest with other protagonist and other galaxy as the setting.
How could you possibly come to that conclusion? andromeda was a buggy abortion that was despised, if it was a good game that flopped then maybe you could make that argument.
God I miss Mass Effect...
Not only that, but we're not getting a new ME for another good 4-6 years, depending on the Corona blow over, Anthems' 2.0 development and the Dragon Age 4 trainwreck
>Anthems' 2.0 development
Is this a joke? I hope this is a joke.
Dude we're robots that kill you to keep you from inventing robots that kill you.
>2deep4u
mass Effect could have been a lot better if Drew had stayed through the whole thing
>ME3’s ending is so hated they set the next game in another galaxy just to ignore it and not make any ending canon
>Andromeda is a laughing stock considered even worse than ME3
So what’s next?
That First Contact War prequel they were floating around? A full reboot/remake? Will they ever grow some balls and just make Destroy canon and continue from there in a post war galaxy?
>Anthems' 2.0
Who the fuck asked for this?
Why did it have to be so bad?
Why coudn't they just ruin the third one?
Why did they have to retroactively ruin the entire series?
>A full reboot/remake?
Seems like the most logical choice.
Prequels? Please don't
>Destroy canon and continue from there in a post war galaxy?
I would prefer this
>If it was a different game, it would have worked.
This is the game they wanted to make, the protagonist they wanted, the crew as well. Why would that change? It would still be written as such, by the same Bioware. If we were at the third ME game post Shepard, with a 3rd new protagonist that also failed, maybe that would make sense, but video game development is expensive and time consuming. It took 5 years to get Ryder, why would I wait another 5 to, most likely, get Ryder 2, when I could just go back to Shepard again? Fuck that.
No. It is happening. Because people that bought the game on release , about 3 million, want a working game. Sunken cost fallacy and all
>Seems like the most logical choice.
Remaking the ME trilogy in 2020, would be like trusting Disney to remake Star Wars
It's supposed to be a relaunch of the first game with major gamechanging updates.Supposed to make it fun or someshit.
They would have been smarter to cut their losses and focus on their next game instead of doubling down
How has BioWare not been shut down yet when EA has killed other studios for far less?
Bioware doesn't really exist anymore, its just the name, most of the old people have either left and the few that are still around have been spread out among other EA owned studios.
EA's Public perception is in the shitter right now. They can't afford to to shutter them yet. After Dread Wolf, they are done, though. Unless it becomes a hit. Which I highly doubt.
Andromeda was perfectly fine as a concept, executed in the worst possible way. If the care, time, effort, and talent that was put into ME1 was put into MEA it would have superseded ME1 both in terms of abject quality and entertainment as well as setting up a lore rich universe for sequels that people would be heavily invested in seeing.
