Bethesda games and GTA from what I understand. LA Noire was apparently received pretty well too, which somewhat surprises me considering Phelps's backstory
>Phelps's backstory
Japs have a strong racial consciousness, they don't care much about this stuff.
None, they named their favorite games since 1989 & it was all JPN games
Call of Duty MW2
Minecraft and Undertale.
>popular everywhere
>tfw when heard jap students had graduation in minecraft because Corona
Was that real or bullshit?
They're still salty towards America over the nukes, you really expect me to believe they're not going to have any kind of problems with a glory hound who only started feeling bad when he torched a civilian field hospital?
Azur Lane/Arknights
Ragnarok Online/TERA
none
Apparently The Witcher 3.

Back in, I think it was 2014, my little brother had a Japanese exchange student stay over for a week. I showed him I had minecraft on my pc and its all he wanted to do, kid hadn't even played it himself before, he just knew all about it, presumably from lets players, and couldn't control the game at first. Either way it was like I showed him the fucking holy grail, he went nuts for it, he probably went back and told all his friends about it
Point being, I can definitely believe that story
Goat Simulator.
I would be too, they were finally the big dogs in asia and we fucked it up for them. They had a country of sex slaves and they played bayonet catch with babies. They had everything.

Undertale
Dead by daylight

And some indies like:

Dead by Daylight is surprisingly popular. Movie games that get localized also take off sometimes like Detroit: Become Human.
That's not the Japanese flag.
minecraft, pubg, apex legends, ark, generally crafting games and battle royales
oh yeah and like others said story oriented games, life is strange, detroit become human etc
Strangely, dead by daylight. I have absolutely no clue why.
Correct, this is the Japanese flag
Based
There's a lot of chinese garbage mobage shit that is super popular here in Japan.
Shut the fuck up tripfag
there is no reason to be upset
minecrap basically, Undertale isn't as popular as people make you believe
Detroit: Become Human 90,333
Life is strange 21,088

I don't see all that stuff. The Japs I see always bow before their Burgerlord.
I'm surprised Chinese gacha games are even popular in Japan
They are incredibly popular, it's ridiculous. When Arknights came out there were massive posters everywhere in Akihabara it almost made me want to play it myself
Lot's of culture with this one, thanks.
minecraft
I've heard Witcher 3 is quite popular, at least compared to other western games. Skullgirls maybe.
Western games are very popular lately. Every vtuber plays exclusively Western games. Japanese zoomers are translating Twitch clips in Japanese and they get genuinely 500k to 3 mil views each video. Japan is not niche anymore in any way, they're wholly globalized and they are very close to consuming more Western media than Jap media
I had a Japanese friend around 2013 who was a brony, good times were had
they are popular because they are better
>here in Japan
I'm jelly fuck you tripfag.
Call of duty not even fucking kidding also wizardy or it used to be popular
Who knows right now people are just assuming what the japs think
Too offensive for chinese and koreans.
>microsoft's only published game that reached over 1 million sales in japan
I teach English in Japan and games come up sometimes. The kids love Minecraft an Fortnite, other games don't come up consistently, the big ones in the West have followings here though.
Fortnite is massive in japan. A large majority of players are on switch.
Japs love GTA5 for some reason. Kind of a shame theres no Yakuza in it, only Korean Mafia and Chinks.
If vtubers are anything to go by, then anything is on the table. Though the games that appeared often were Dead by Daylight, Minecraft, Fornite, Cuphead, Human Fall Flat, Skyrim
Also, Grand Theft Auto 5
fuck chinks
