Go into the town and talk to shop workers in any of the shops (hold alt to see) you want to buy. You can change the shop to whatever you want once you buy it.
>caravan
Talk to any merchant in town to start one. FYI though, you will want more than 15k before you do this. Unlike workshops, caravans make essentially no money in the first week and don't break even/profit until about 2 weeks. After that they're great, but I would recommend a few thousand buffer.

Been enjoying it a lot already. It's definitely unfinished, but I'm having a fun Nord RP run, building a not-huskarl army and swinging a big axe.

Played for 10 hours no biggie

Great 40 hours but now im just gonna wait for it to be finished
Multiplayer was fun too since the playebase actually consists of variety of people than 1000 hour sweatlords in current warband

no i mean which settlement would i want to buy it in? does it matter? i for example dont want to buy a workshop in mudslime country

I think you just really suck. You can get swords with like 100 reach and it's not that hard to hit people with them.

I'm pirating it and then buying it when it's $10 this Christmas because I don't want to get ripped off by tale worlds. Do not want to get run through another Rising Storm 2.

Already on sale is a very bad sign they're going to drop price for speedy cash, and then Warband isn't staying at $20 bucks at all.

I'm your opposite, I suck at lance, but good with axe and sword. Bows I think are pretty easy for everyone? I love firing long distance and hitting them before they reach my line.

I really really enjoyed it until I realized the game isn't even 1/4th of the way complete. It's honestly a shitshow right now, with so many fucking obvious design flaws, and I'm not even talking about the bugs and HORRID performance issues.

Up to you faction-wise (I think you do lose it if the city is captured). As for which specifically, look for one in which the input is cheap and the output sells well. Essentially every shop processes a raw material (e.g. flax) into a product (e.g. linens), so to maximize profit in the linen example you would want to set up a linen shop in a city with flax production but no other linen shops. Or for a brewery, a place with grain but no beer, etc.

do the workshops send you the money automatically or do you have to drop by every now and then to collect the income?

Automatically every day, just like troop wages.

Thanks for bug testing the game for me though. I'm thankful to all who bought the early access version to test this work in progress because the devs obviously didn't playtest their shit themselves.

It's automatic, both workshops and caravan.
Revenues and expenses transact daily.

I pirated it and played it a few hours, i enjoyed most of my time but i recognize that it needs a shit ton of work in pretty much every aspect of the game and will probably wait a year until it gets fixed and lots of mods get released, and then try it again

You could tell that they only playtested the battles and not the campaign because until the third patch there was an unavoidable save game error that is just straight up impossible to not not encounter after long enough.

So after doing some tests I realize factions essentially treat mercenaries the same as vassals when leaving the kingdom.
It's not a one year contract, rather an indefinite contract that when you decide to leave you lose favorable rep and gain -20 rep.
So that definitely needs fixing. I doubt it's intended that way, otherwise its not truly a merc contract.
I keep telling myself the same thing, but for some reason I keep coming back.

Honestly what a joke this game has turned out to be so far, lets look at the issues without copeing about it for a second
