I'm 27 hours in and still in Wall Market.
To be fair I've spend a lot of time stealing items like I do when I replay the original. The music in the abandoned highway area between Sector 5 to Wall Market is amazing.

Wasn't sure if I was going to wait for PC in a year or not, but after hearing that they're making things different, I was interested enough to preorder the digital version. Even if it's batshit insane, it's something new. I've played the original enough, if I can get the set pieces, but an altered story with some meta narrative, then that sounds fun.

But I also really loved Umineko, so meta context is just my thing I guess.

I don't play Kingdom Hearts. Never could get into it. With regards to me waiting to see how the reboot pans out...I'll say because it's basically a new FFVII.

That's the amazing part. I knew they'd fuck it up somehow, and I was concerned about Shinra blowing up the number 1 reactor now, that was what concerned me the most a month ago, but the ending to the game was so far beyond that, I had no chance of guessing how bad they'd fuck it up.

I don't know, man. Like I said I'm not planning on getting it any time soon so there's time enough for my opinions and interest to change.

I had severe misgivings when they first showed the black smoke things in the early trailers, then had an interview that said they were the "Watchers of Fate" or some shit. I figured it was odd to include shit like that in such an important scene but whatever.
I figured maybe they were Cetra ghosts or something.

Then I saw the trailer that shows Cloud facing off against Sephiroth IN MIDGAR and I knew instantly we were getting some huge retcon shit.

Even I never imagined time traveling sephiroth from the original game.

More likely Sephiroth from KH traveling through time cause of darkness and shit

People really need to stop forcing the "compilation" is a necessary meme. Nothing about the twist requires info outside of 7, hell the characters don't even have all the spoilers by the end so it's retarded to think it''s necessary before the next part. A virgin player is likely to just be confused, which is what the game expects since it's not a complete story yet.

oh buddy you have no idea. BBS was the last one where the story was still halfway sane. It was about an old guy who separated a kid's light side from his dark side so they could fight and in doing so, forge a legendary thing. Simple enough.

DDD introduced time travel and revealed that the old guy from BBS masterminded literally everything that happened in every other KH game so he could pit 13 warriors of darkness against 7 warriors of light (don't ask why those numbers are specifically required they just are) and also Xemnas knew all along that nobodies could grow hearts he just lied. Now all of the villains of the past games who died are back because why not? Also Xehanorts younger self is here because why not? Also sleeping worlds. Also Xigbar is actually Xehanort, except he's really not because KH3 reveals Xigbar is way older than Xehanort and was just using him for his own ends.

Even knowing now, the signs are ludicrously subtle, you can only really see it in context of what Nomura was going for, the way trailers were structured, the changes that only came across as wanting to change the story and either thinking it was stupid or being okay with it, outside of that I really don't see how anyone alive saw it coming, it was the best kept secret since MGS2 and they didn't even need to switch the main character in trailers.

No you don't. By the end of Midgar, they fight a Sephiroth from the future(?) in an alternate reality Midgar as it's torn to pieces my Meteor and a giant monster, they kill ghosts that prevent history from changing, Zack survived the soldier attack, and Biggs is still alive.

As far as I know it's the only piece of media marketed as a Remake only to later let on that it is in fact part of the same universe and everything is looping, anything else that uses a groundhog day setting usually isn't marketed as a Re-anything it's usually just the same piece

shit didn't leak back then, ever, there was no network of people with access to copies that could just get a hold of a game and stream it, or even take pictures of it because everything on the internet was separated into sites and by the time anyone found the one site where one random guy happened to get a whole of an early copy and take photos of it with his disposable camera it would have already been out for months anyway, this is only possible today because of social media and the ability to aggregate information form people who would be nobody otherwise

the "remake" was going to be a soulless cashgrab anyway, Nomura spicing things up with the whole alternative timeline will at least make it more interesting.
