Battles are slideshow that takes hours to get through, acquiring new Digimon is fucked, move variety is very small, game is terribly unfriendly to users in terms of explaining mechanics but not particularly fun enough to make you want to experiment to see how things actually work. I tried to get into it like three times and kept dropping it after the first battle or two.

I just finished rewatching Digimon Adventure 1 and holy shit is it dated. The fights are so tame and static it's hilarious.

For real, Toei jumping to digital was a mistake. You can a lot of corners cut with their older stuff but around '99 you can see a LOT more corners cut with Digimon and Doremi. One Piece sometimes had some stinkers but that went unscathed most of the time.

Both Cyber Sleuth are a good pick since they are the fastest ones to grind the mons however you want. If you want the real grinding experience a good one is World Redigitalize for PSP, there is fan translation and it does work as an updated version of the original world. Dunno if World Next Order for PS4 is good but I did see some really cool shit you can do in that since you always have 2 digimon with you

Really the thing with Digimon games is that as opposed to Pokemon's that are the same exact game since 1996 and made to appeal to 8 year olds, Digimon isn't afraid of innovation for better or worse.
