How can a standard third person camera be jank?

I think the game needs a map. I got lost easily in the temple area because I wanted to take a detour, and it wasn't easy to find my way back until I actually exited the temple area.

It's standard for third person shooting, and even then only janky cover shooters like gears of war. It's clearly more interested in being a shooter so I'm less interested in the game play and more interested in the cutie you play as. Sorry I have 10,000 other games I can play as a strafing pointer-locked crosshair, I want something a little more substantial, proper orbital camera and less axis locking.

Then it needs a far better camera, not one where the visible space below the player is less than 10% of the screen. That's not how you make a platformer, that's bad game design. Why do you think I'm talking about this stuff? It doesn't look good.

But you can just angle your camera down a little if you want to make more precise jumps. Sounds like a non issue compared to something that would actually hinder gameplay, like FOV.

FOV isn't as important as total biscuit made it out to be, there are better compromises than limiting the space in front of you, and that starts with making a better camera that distances your game from generic third person shooters and elevates it beyond this incredibly rigid platforming as seen here: which looks like it's lacking even a basic momentum system. I'm sorry, it doesn't look like a good game. It's got a cute character, but it looks obscenely boring, shame it's not obscene in a more appealing way.

FOV isn't the end all, be all but it's important to a point. Spacial awareness is important in a platformer. I'd rather be able to see more of what's around the character than more of what's under them when I can just angle the camera a bit when I need to.

I at least agree with you there. Both the physics and jumping animation need work, but they're good enough to get a feel for the game, and it's pretty promising.

A typical platformer camera, an orbital one, gives you more spatial awareness than the third person shooter camera that is being used here. I don't think the physics are going to change, I don't think this developer knows what kind of game they're making and are trying to retrofit one type of game into another to disappointing results.

Wait for the update since it'll probably come with some fixes and tweaks on top of the new stuff, or you can buy it now if you really want and play through what's there already.
Alternatively, you could wait for another sale. It was half off during the last week of march.

The dev has said the physics are getting changed when they start working on adding online, and they absolutely know what kind of game they're making. It feels a lot like a rare platformer from the 00s

It's pretty basic terminology. The character is positioned toward the bottom half of the screen and their footing is easily occluded depending on the angle. Something you really don't want in a platformer is to not be able to see where your character is standing as seen here: It's just not good design.

Well he hasn't fucked anything up yet, and parts of the game are surprisingly polished for being in EA, specifically, the environments.

From what I can tell, all the story mode is playable coop along with the survival stuff. I wish I could try it but I have no local friends, and remote play is laggy.

While it looks fun the gunplay looks a bit too simple maybe? They could add stuff like a "reflect projectiles" ability with the umbrella that recharges over time

We'd be playing the coming update already of the dev's pc hadn't gotten stolen, losing weeks of work. Hopefully chink flu culls france's wonderful immigrant population so the chances of that happening again are lower. And also the dev is using cloud back ups now.
