Yes i remember when they made those shitty things that even had fucking errors, when stuff like Golden Sun was out. The only good Pokemon sprites are gen 2's(battle only) and gen 4(backsprites only), the rest has always looked like fucking shit.

Sprites were ugly crap that didnt even have attack animations what a fucking joke. They intentionally made battling look like fUcking ASS to trap fucking idiots into buying shit like stadium or battle revolution.
Pokemon only got good when they got rid of that scam and made battling dynamic in the actual fucking game about battling pokemon creatures in the first place.

Pokemon was only good in Gen 1. Everything after was a literal reskin with worse designs, less inspired story and a few gameplay tweaks that did nothing to fix the core emptiness of the games. Other AAA franchises were making sweeping updates and experiments and Game Freak was still cranking out the tired 4 moves, 8 gym leaders, evil crime boss wants to destroy the world bullshit.

I can't imagine unironically thinking "Pokemon lost the plot after Gen 5" or Gen 4 or Gen 6 or whatever the fuck. Gen 4 was peak competitive era. Every other era has been too muddled or primitive to really factor in.

the story was far better than a rehash of a 20 year old story everyone already knew and wasn't just appealing to johtoddler's nostalgia/KANTOOOOO faggots. also the battle system was far far faster and better because it had the best sprite work of any game besides gen 2, as well as moving sprites, much faster and fun battles than gen 4's sluggish engine, didn't takr forever to heal up pokemon, infinite TM's, tons of post-game content, rewards for doing shit, challenging elite four, etc.

Gameplay, lore, character and plotwise however were all laughable; and this was the first title that began the consistent fuckup of everything in those regards (exception made for ORAS - which is easily among HGSS as the best PKMN entries)

No. It's objectively bad and it detracts from the gameplay experience.

For example, there's a whole scripted sequence where you have to walk through 8 doors and read through 8 pointless, bad poems just to challenge the Elite 4. I would rather have no story than that bullshit. It is a downgrade.

HGSS was the peak of the series in terms of a balance between gameplay, features, and nostalgia. Everything after that was overdone although they at least put some effort into Unova.

I liked it. Aegislash and Greninja were cool.

Kalos was pretty but that's about all it had going for it. And the 3DS made it look likes ass. This is where pokemon begins to dip in quality. After bw2 they didnt even try. The postgame in this sucked and the chateau and maison were a slog.

Nah that was 4. Gen 3 was the last Pokedex that incorporated original Pokemon beta designs. Hoenn did perform distinctly worse than Gen 1 and 2 but it was a very soulful region with very good music and I think a lot of it had to do with GBA just not being anywhere near as popular as GB and GBC. Gen 3 started the five gajirrion legendaries cancer but they were artfully done and incredibly difficult to happen upon (Regis) or to catch (Rayquaza). Gen 4 went full on bad Pokedex with tons of filler shitmons and five gajirrion legendaries sitting there. Gen 3 also had secret bases which were kino. Gen 4's big redeeming factor was the underground.
