And that's a completely separate matter. Whether Zack ends up dying or not is not the point. The point is that Squeenix is not being explicit with Zack's death unlike they were in CC and even the original FFVII.
There's only one single reason for that. To use it as an excuse to let him live in this new timeline, or to give him an even bigger role in the events that happen in the storyline of FFVIIR somehow.
