this is yet another bait thread, the game is meant for VR and the gameplay will obviously be sub par without a headset, and I dont even have one

that said, no matter how many copies they sold, its still not the game that will bring VR to the masses.
I unironically think the game(s) that will eventually do it, will be multiplayer, when headsets are largely available and for a much cheaper price.
For what they are right now, a sp game like Alyx is obviously the right choice though.

I wouldnt be surprised if nintendo or ms finally manage to understand this and release a rather cheap multiplayer kit with several headsets and a couple of party games.

keep in mind being a pc gamer in 2020 isn't a unique thing anymore. majority of games released can run on toasters, that's they chinks and brazilians with potato rigs make up the majority of steam accounts, look at the average specs in each steam hardware survey. People draw attention to 1% using vr but 1% of however many billion people play games on steam is still a lot. and maybe 10% of that user base pool actually have computers that can run demanding games.
