Because it is a-ok in some cases*. Graphics are not as important as aesthetics.

*Depends on what you're downgrading. Texture and model quality are ok to downgrade, while lighting, draw distance, density of buildings or flora aren't.

Texture and model quality barely affect performances unless you're going full retard on poly count and texture size, all the others things you mentioned are the ones most likely to be tweaked for the sake of optimization.

Nobody wants to downgrade a game. It's an inevitability because you can't predict exactly how well a game is going to run until you get all the pieces together. If you think this is a bad practice, you should be forced to play all of your games on a toaster of a PC.

Bannerlord runs way better than rdr2 did on my pc, but I only ever played rdr2 within the first week of its launch on pc.

Graphics don't use your cpu holy fucking shit. You retards know nothing about games or optimization. Bannerlord is all about ai in battles, that's a CPU thing. Graphics are all handed by GPU 99% of the time. Bannerlord could still be optimized.

Completely wrong. The "downgrade" was from the early trailers to the pre-release trailers that came out around 2-3 months BEFORE release.
