Not really, no. Remakes are a reimagining of something while typically keeping the major plot points the same, even if things are handled differently. Sephiroth trying to stop a future from happening and major parts of the story being completely rewritten is beyond the scope of a remake. It's a reimagining at best, and even that might not fit it.

The guy with the long black hair is Zack, the guy Cloud (protagonist) mimicks.
They were experimented by CHAD mad scientist (who also cucked an optional party-member and made him immortal to be a cuck/simp mutt for eternity) and were given space-AIDS cells from some weird alien cometshit. Sephiroth (bad guy with long silver hair and huge katana) was made by injecting space-AIDS into his son when he was a fetus. (He obviously used the love interest of the cuck/simp partymember)
They escaped but Zack died defending Cloud's life. Cloud then started to believe that Zack's actions/life as merc were his.

This leak shows that Zack survived and is going to take Aerith (best girl who dies) back so the Chad can proceed to be with the best girl while the genetic trash (Tifa&Cloud) can do whatever trash-people do. The latter part happens no matter what but according to the FF7 movie, Cloud just drives his motorcycle while Tifa becomes a MOMMY for orphans. This is important because it opens up the plot for /ss/ NTR

Yeah and like Advent Children, Crisis Core, Before Crisis and every other goddamn FFVII spin-off since the dawn of time you can just ignore them and treat FFVII as its own experience. If this were going to be a straight remake then it wouldn't be split across 3-4 different parts with a release date of "Who Fucking Knows" on all but the one coming out soon.

People are mad because the game was massively rewritten when they leave Midgar. Instead of just leaving, they go into an alternate reality/future and watch Midgar get destroyed by a giant monster and fight Sephiroth who takes Cloud to the edge of creation and says he needs his help to stop that which doesn't yet exist, a character who should be dead is alive which is a major change, another character who should be dead is a major change, and it's actually like a fanficiton. Imagine you're playing FF IV and right before Leviathan throws you overboard, you get thrown into a possible future and see Baron destroyed and fight Golbez or Zemus amidst the ruins and then you fuck off and wake up near Mysidia.
