he did nothing wrong. He was a coward but he saw no other choice

trusted mossman

It has come to my attention that some have lately called me a collaborator, as if such a term were shameful. I ask you, what greater endeavor exists than that of collaboration? In our current unparalleled enterprise, refusal to collaborate is simply a refusal to grow--an insistence on suicide, if you will.

Did the lungfish refuse to breathe air? It did not. It crept forth boldly while its brethren remained in the blackest ocean abyss, with lidless eyes forever staring at the dark, ignorant and doomed despite their eternal vigilance. Would we model ourselves on the trilobite? Are all the accomplishments of humanity fated to be nothing more than a layer of broken plastic shards thinly strewn across a fossil bed, sandwiched between the Burgess shale and an eon's worth of mud?

In order to be true to our nature, and our destiny, we must aspire to greater things. We have outgrown our cradle. It is futile to cry for mother's milk, when our true sustenance awaits us among the stars. And only the universal union that small minds call 'The Combine' can carry us there.

Therefore I say, yes, I am a collaborator. We must all collaborate, willingly, eagerly, if we expect to reap the benefits of unification. And reap we shall.

Betrayed humanity for his own interests. "But he had no other choice" retards are categorically wrong once we found out that the Combine can be cut off.

Peed in the lemonade cans at Black Mesa and stuck them back into the vending machines

He could've secretly worked with the resistance and been a mole. He was clearly in it for self gain and delusions of grandeur. I guarantee he went to bed every night with a diamond hard on knowing that the combine wanted HIM as administrator of humanity and no one else. He loved it, and never once considered that the aliens not only didn't give a single shit about him, but were using him from the getgo and there was nothing special about him.

Instead of collaborating with humanity undercover and making it seem like he was oppressing the population, he actually oppressed and subjugated the population lmao, I mean how the fuck else did Mossman get away with it?

I'd like to take a moment to address you directly, Dr. Freeman.

Yes. I'm talking to you, the so-called One Free Man. I have a question for you. How could you have thrown it all away? It staggers the mind. A man of science, with the ability to sway reactionary and fearful minds toward the truth, choosing instead to embark on a path of ignorance and decay. Make no mistake, Dr. Freeman. This is not a scientific revolution you have sparked...this is death and finality.

You have plunged humanity into freefall. Even if you offered your surrender now, I cannot guarantee that Our Benefactors would accept it. At the moment, I fear they have begun to look upon even me with suspicion. So much for serving as humanity's representative.

Help me win back their trust, Dr. Freeman. Surrender while you still can. Help ensure that humanity's trust in you is not misguided.

Do what is right, Dr. Freeman. Serve mankind.

This. It could've been so easy to work with the Resistance while seeming to not, Mossman straight up did it right infront of his fucking face and he didn't even notice lmao.

Well I would say he did sort of fuck over humanity. He had no other option which is what he argues at the end of HL2 if I remember right. Not sure if that's entirely true. He could have easily been killed and replaced. He did shit wrong even if he was only doing it to preserve his life.

Pretty sure there was a part in HL2 where hes getting chewed out by the combine. He should have helped the resistance, he was just a pussy

>everything stated above
It's legit all lies, I'm fairly certain the combine or whoever Breen answers to know about G-Man and want Gordon's ass on a silver plate.
How do I know this? Well when you go to his office he legit was going to send Eli and Alyx off world and tried to negotiate a deal with you to suppress the resistance.

He's a well written villain because he is honestly acting in what he sees as humanity's best interest, and really if Gordon didn't have protag plot armor he would have a point.

I think if the players were more aware of just how overwhelmingly powerful the full force combine invasion was they'd be more sympathetic to his point of view

Didn't agree to Aperture Science's offer to buy the company.

THE HAX

The full might of the Combine left almost immediately after the Seven Hour Shitslap, it's been the transhuman dregs for years. Breen is in the perfect position to see how little the Combine cares, to know what they would respond to and how they'd respond to it, as well as how tenuous their link to Earth actually is.

If he was actually trying to do his best to save humanity when he collaborated, there was a point when he stopped caring about doing it and just gave up on anyone but himself.

Doesn't the newspaper in Alyx imply that he only ended up on top just because he was the first person to figure out how to communicate with the Combine and negotiated the surrender?

It wasn't that he saw no other choice, there literally was no other choice other than complete human extinction, which arguably isn't even a choice if you think about it. The combine defeated earth in 7 hours. Breen saw a way to save humanity by selling it out.

This. An ant may have no chance in defeating and destroying an elephant, but an ant definitely has a chance of just escaping the elephant's notice.

Doesn't matter how powerful and all-encompassing the Combine are. Just close off all the portals, and they can't come back, and no middle manager in the Combine hierarchy is going to care enough to go searching for a way back.

He was watched 24/7, with a combine soldier with a gun at the back of his head the whole time.

But the Combine had/have a special interest in Earth because we had figured out same-dimension teleportation.

I haven't played for a while, but wasn't the point that all that needed to happen was for the domestic forces to sound the klaxon for combine to send a bunch more shit back to quash any sort of rebellion, and that only due to the HL2 hail mary (which Breen honestly thought wouldn't be possible, again because he was disregarding Gordon's protag status) that they couldn't?

Although to be fair you are right in that he wasn't shown as completely 'Spock'ing it, and that there was a certain amount of enjoyment he seemed to have from his status as combine appointed human dictator.

Either way I think he's fairly well written as far as villains go, and I hope that some of the Breengrub stuff might make it into Ep3

Which only works for our dimension's physics. It can't be ported over to their other dimensions because of different physics. Mastering same-dimensional teleportation in our dimension only makes things easier for the Combine in this dimension. If they lose this dimension anyways, who cares?

*sip*
>Sends countless scientists to Xen, knowing that it's a perilous environment and many of which will die during their research
>Insists the science team go through with the anomalous materials experiment even when everyone on the science team including the machine's creator urged against it
>Directly responsible for the black mesa incident
>Indirectly responsible for the Combine invasion of earth
>Steps up first in line to collaborate with the Combine to selfishly live in a nice cushy office atop the citadel while humanity suffers for his countless fuckups

>want this teleportation technology because they don't have it
>put in the absolute bare minimum of resources and effort to get it
It took seven hours to pacify the military might of every nation on the planet but they couldn't spend seven more looking for the Borealis?

Betrayed his entire species and sold his race into slavery to aliens

On the day of the rope, he will hang with all the other traitors.

would you rather be killed or become a mindless slave for a universal conglomerate that only wants to use you?

I'd rather move to the countryside and learn to domesticate bullsquid or fish for leeches

And who was going to do that, retard?

>the resistance already have the rocket and satellite needed to cut off Combine access to Earth
Probably the people who figured it out and found a way to do it

They know about the existence of the Borealis, they just don't know when it's supposed to be.

YOU TOOK MY JAWB

take away universal and you already have the answer

Nobody does anything wrong when it's all part of the plan

What was his endgame?

Attached: HalflifeKick.webm (1280x720, 2.86M)

we still dont know

why has he got stalker pods in his office

The combine would simply storm back in and fuck earth up all over again if things went south. You can already see that happening when Eli gets got by a grub and the combine is deploying more of their alien freaks like the hunters and striders by the end of Ep 2.
I mean, the leaked ending of Episode 3 is that Gordon sees that the combine home system is surrounded by a Dyson sphere and he's abandoned by Gman and left to his fate.
The situation really is hopeless without some kind of major asspull.

whats so intimidating about a vacuum cleaner

It shouldn't be assumed that the full force of the Combine is the same as it is in Epistle 3. In fact they may have no home dimension and instead they exist on all dimensions simultaneously, just like Cave Johnson's Aperture Science initiative where he outsourced his work across the multiverse, except instead of multiple universes it's multiple dimensions.

ask your cat aka the big sphere built around your sun

Fuck with the Combine's expansion, no matter which ways he handle it nor morals.

that's always how it was since HL2. He probably mentioned or was asked about the teleportation tech humanity invented and used it as a bargaining chip, which was why Mossman was spying on Eli.

Getting that fully modeled pussy

CP Violation is still the best song in the series

being an elder god fuck and manipulating combine to control universe as his employers wish.

Probably the best
Other top tiers are triage at dawn, vortal combat, last legs and sector sweep. Ending Triumph from Alyx is pretty great too, if short

I need to relisten to the soundtrack

from the thumbnail I though this was supposed to be them as scientists in a room overlooking the test chamber

dubs don't lie

Lord Bogdanoff, Crab-17 was a stunning success.

I imagine the Combine as a multi universal version of Google or the Massachusetts government where everything is choked in infinite layers of paperwork, apathy, and institutional inertia

just sounds like the fat people from Hitchhiker's Guide who were scared of towels

They 100% have a knowledge of the GMan. They're probably involved in some kind of war with the "employers" he mentions

if people like Eli are aware the G-Man exists there's no way the Combine are unaware of him

He tried to be nice

MAKE LIFE TAKE THE LEMONS BACK

I DON'T WANT YOUR DAMN LEMONS, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THESE

What was his problem?

Attached: Magnusson.jpg (421x541, 149.17K)

if Breen knew that why wouldn't he have had a fuck huge Combine force destroy that facility immediately before the resistance really kicked off?

He betrayed all of humanity for his position

Autism and delusions of grandeur

I wouldn't be surprised if the combine are just some kind of interdimensional virus civilization without any real form of leadership

He was really looking forward to that casserole

If it wasn't for his negotiations with the combine humanity would have almost certainly been exterminated. Just like the nihilant's race

I believe he was going to be turned into an advisor.

He was the administrator of all of Black Mesa but I don't think he was directly involved with the resonance cascade

He's a hatched advisor that wants to stop the mind virus that enslaved the combine races, the advisors are slaves to the virus like any other part of the collective.

Not being in Black Mesa

Seriously though, fuck those niggers at Crowbar Collective for not including him in the game and bastardizing the HECU.
