Most of them.
Indie games being shit is a Yas Forums meme.
Most good games you can play these games ARE indies.
They also tend to be games that have tons of replay value, giving you the most bang for your buck.

There's definitely a lot of indie games out there that are filler garbage but they're extremely easy to spot from the good ones, unless you're a basic bitch retard that sees pixel art and immediately think it's shit, and only plays AAA trash.

CrossCode is a really good game.

Is Curious Expedition any good? It looks like it'll really scratch an itch for me right now

When I play a game where you can do combos I always think "Huh, why do i play this game instead of DMC5".
There is somethign wrong with me.

There are good and bad indies, and good and bad A/AA/AAA

No let's be serious. DMC5 is by far the best game when it comes to making combos. Why should I play a worse version of this.

Not just talking about celeste, but there are many, many popular platformers that you're oversimplifying here. you're assuming the travel between each platform only requires running and jumping, when most current platformers have dashes to execute (shit, even Doom E. does this) as well as other abilities (meat boy secondary characters) or combat (they bleed pixels) to accomplish while doing so.

i've been meaning to check that out
everyone raves about it

even if the B sides are a little hazard heavy I had a blast with the ghost chases and the goo skidoo mechanic, and the triple jumps, and most of the summit.

Epilogue DLC WHEN

There are tons of good indies including those listed in this thread.

Try Shadow of Adam , it's a neat little indie jrpg with lots of inspiration including a battle system / perspective from Final Fantasy Gaiden / Mystic Quest which is pretty rare.

Lots of other indies worth playing

SteamWorld Dig 1 and 2 and SteamWorld Heist are the last Indie Games I played. Really great Games.
I look forward to play Shardlight from Wadjet Eye Games this Weekend.

>No let's be serious.
I am serious, you have autism.
>DMC5 is by far the best game
It's not even the best DMC.

Indie market is the same as the AAA market, 90% shovelware low effort trash, 10% actually good games. I feel like the pendulum swings much harder with indie though, the worst are a lot worse than the worst AAA games, but the best are generally absolutely amazing.

based

you should play more games if DMC5 is the only flavor of that type of thing you ever want to experience again. It's a bit slow/low on gravity for my taste

>AAA market
>10% actually good games

The best indie games are easy to spot and you're not spending too much money on them in case they're bad.
they're also harder to obfuscate the quality of and less touched up by marketing compared to AAA titles.
So, all in all, i consider the indie market to be better.
Easier to spot good games, less financial loss on bad games, less marketing lies (unless we cound kickstarter scams but that's a whole other subject).

I played Bayonetta1,2, the other DMC games, god of war, MGR, Ninja Gaiden (the good 3d one) etc.
Not a single one of these comes close to DMC5.

I wouldn't consider Alicesoft to be indie, no.

I just beat bug fables, definitely a great game.

Fucking finally. I pretty much exclusively play indie games as there are just so many good ones. AAA is either Nintendo or a shooter, which isn't bad, just not creative.

I think the indie market is great, I tend to prefer it as a model for game creation as the end product tends to be much more focused and tightly designed, since it wasn't made by a huge committee. Indies tend to be willing to take more risks too. The only downside in my opinion is how easier development and publishing has totally saturated the market with lazy, cashgrab trash, which has completely ruined Steam (although that's Steam's fault for having such low standards.)

Are PopCap games indie? I feel like they don't get talked about around here often, considering they pretty much revolutionized the puzzle genre and pumped out some really creative games with concepts which were never picked up again.
Of course they are pretty much a corpse now with EA at the front.

I have to agree with this mostly. Granted, the Indie market I feel is bigger than the triple A market, but theres also a lot less money to spend on games in comparison. Lot of indie games run you maybe 20 bux, Vs the 40 - 60 you'd spend on triple A titles. And unlike them, Indie games go on sales a LOT more frequently or are paired in bundles. Its just cheaper to get your hands on them on average, so less problems with buying a dud.

Spelunky 2 never EVER

Sonic Robo Blast 2 KART
Holy shit, it's so fucking good and fun[/Spoiler] play it before everyone starts regretting re-purchasing MK8 riddled with gimmick, luck-baswd mechanics of double items and hackers.

Original Sonic Robo Blast 2 is pretty cool too. Amazing that it's all built off of DOOM.

Redpill me on Lobotomy Corporation, why is it good? I played it once and had no idea what the fuck I should have been doing.

when are they finishing it

An Untitled Story. I've played through it multiple times since 2007 and it's always fun. It's so long, especially for a freeware game, and the platforming and secrets and shit are fun. I wish he'd go back to that game instead of working on Celeste more

There is as much indie garbage as AAA garbage. You just never hear about them because indies depend upon word of mouth for marketing instead of million-dollar marketing teams. People aren't going to hype good games while marketers will because AAA games are investments above every thing else.

Katana Zero comes to mind.

I thought it was finished already.

Stardew Valley is probably the best indie game I've ever played. Mad respect for the dev.

Nice to see these mentioned. Good games both of them.

I still have yet to play Hollow Knight and Hyper Light Drifter, though they're both on my hard drive.

If you watched the dev commentary you'd actually understand the level design of celeste
Also not a single stage in celeste looks like this unless it's a C-side

Good post. Old games and modern indie games are the only thing keeping my love of gaming alive.

Because unlike that game for example you can't couch co-op DMC with your bros.
