Both tier lists are based. The top is for likelihood of inclusion, the bottom is more how good the characters are.
Both are correct.

good tier list.

>"Most likely" smash newcomers The only characters that are most likely are the ones Nintendo picked. There's no rhyme or reason why. They add whoever the fuck they think is most financially viable. There's no fucking point to speculate or discuss this anymore. You're all fucking faggots and you're just building up months of hype for another shitty character you don't want.
oh look, it's the same list of characters you spergs have been obsessing over for months. when none of them get into the game after all the baseless hype, you'll all blame nintendo/sakurai for "getting your hopes up." grow up, get a life, and stop obsessing over a party game's roster.
If ZUN wants to bring 17.5 and 18 to switch the $ case is there. Franchise has a lot of baggage though; I don't think Nintendo wants players googling Reimu.
Honestly very reasonable. I wouldn't be too unhappy with those newcomers.
I think Geno could get in. We will know for sure when we get details on the new "back to the roots" Paper Mario game the rumor mill keeps talking about. If Geno is in Smash he will probably feature heavily in that too.
Maybe, but I don't see what Square Enix gets out of this deal. A big license fee? 2B's just got a much better financial case and she's just as popular as Geno now.
Can you link this? I think the deconfirm on Sora is pretty reliable (wouldn't totally rule him out). But I haven't seen one on Geno.
I actually have only seen maybe three episodes from the show (I went and watched the one where Team Rocket wins a battle). I thought the art direction was good but obviously adults are not going to get a lot out of it.
Nier music alone would make 2B a great inclusion but how would they family friendlify her? The leotard is not going to fly and you can't really give her a void dress without it looking weird either.
I've never thought these kinds of "fan rules" have any weight with people making decisions. But the inclusion of an ARMS fighter is more or less the end of this weird idea.
I listed Geno as a near miss because there's not an opportunity for Nintendo to make money from including him, even if fans want him. I don't think he can get in because no one can really make use of his IP, although makes an OK case.
I don't, no. It should go without saying that I have literally nothing better to do.
I'd guess they remove the tit window and turn her stockings into tights. I definitely see how people think 2B is "too sexy" after the Mai comment, but I think there's plenty of daylight between her and 2B.
I think you can keep CERO A with just a few changes to 2B's design.
Arle will probably excite some Japanese fans, but she will definitely be less well received in the west. I think this poll does a good job gauging negative response:
Arle is the main character of a puzzle series and has been around for a very long time. The game continues to sell well not because of the puzzle gameplay (basically the same every time) but because it has a big cast of anime characters nips like. SEGA owns it and makes the games now.
Incineroar getting in over Sceptile was a mistake but not one they'll ever unmake.
I actually think people overrate the odds of a Pokemon rep, but think the contenders are Urshifu > Cinderace > Rillaboom.
Urshifu will absolutely blow Byleth out of the water for least popular inclusion. And I don't think Nintendo needs it to sell their DLC.

Say what you will about the SM games but they have the most prime selection of cunny in the whole series.

Ah yes, the waifu principle. Probably the same mindset people think reimu and saber would get in. Surprisingly concise and informational comment though, so thank you

>the ARMS characters can’t be alts, I swear!!! Cope
I'm not interested in making comparisons to first wave DLC. I like Arle because I think the odds of Sega being able to hand Nintendo a timed exclusive from her series are high, JP fans will buy the DLC and the amiibo, and she has a long history in video games to spin marketing material out of.
Pretty comparable appeal, but Arle is owned by a company Nintendo can work with and her franchise is pretty clean. Reimu and Saber are deeper in the anime miasma.
>Ah yes, the waifu principle. Kazooie being the only female in the first pass for half a year was fun.
Cameron Robinson
Joker is a great choice. Persona is huge and Nintendo is heavily courting Sega/Atlus to get the franchise on Switch. But you are talking about FP1. This thread is about FP2.
Well, all puzzle "series" are mostly the same game. Compile/SEGA has kept it profitable with a quirky cast and story modes. And that has worked.
I think the core gameplay of Tetris Attack is better, but where is that series now? If you look at the first game, they actually tried to copy Compile's approach, but Lip and her fairy friends were pretty generic and they ended up canning this approach in favor of Nintendo reskins. The series never developed an identity and is basically dead now.
>But you talking about FP1. This thread is about FP2 I'm expecting another motherfucking Fire Emblem rep before Arle. Let's not kid ourselves here.
Kevin Davis
FE probably not, Pokemon def yes >Also fighter pass 2 is Springman, Dante, Crash, Doom Guy, 2B, and Steve
Elijah Gray
i'd rather have doomguy instead of crash, but i'd take those 5.
Kayden Parker
But the OG Puyo rule plays different from the Tsu rule which also plays different from the Sun/Yon/Fever/Henshin/Skill Battle rules. Not to mention every rule that only appears in the Anniversary games

Fatlus is all Nintendo needs from Sega. Lets get another company rep already.
Jason Edwards
The based team. The most optimal team. The "fuck yeah speed and power" team.
Justin Ramirez
Generally, I am looking at things in this order: what extra can Nintendo get out of the deal, where the JP fanbase is, and then where the western fanbase is.
I don't think Doomguy is comparable with Terry -- Nintendo got a physical exclusive out of that deal. DOOM Eternal probably came to Switch with minimal extra effort from Nintendo, and it's not a timed exclusive.
As for Dante, I think Nintendo is pretty much always playing a loves-me / loves-me-not game with Capcom. He is also one of those characters very popular in both the west and Japan, whereas Doomguy is only popular here.
We can't really discuss it if you're not able to support your ideas.
It does introduce new ideas. But there is a lot less difference between a Puyo game on Genesis and the recent Puyo Champions than there is between Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 8.
My point is that the characters are what keeps the franchise alive.
Gabriel Turner
Yeah but you can't Say that a rule where you can offset is the same as a rule where you cannot offset or one where you doing counterattacks gives you a boost or one where every character has a skill
>If you're not able to support your ideas >FEH hasn't gotten a character yet. >Every FE rep is 100% guranteed regardless if it's base or DLC >Banjo proved you don't need to "shill" a new game to get in.
Chase Evans
I think it would be more likely that they try to pull a "Mii Fighter" and make 1 character with 3 choices in move sets (maybe even some choices in ARMs to? IDK how hard it was for Sakurai to make Mii Fighter) that allows them to use 3 different basic "body types" as to keep identity at play.
Have a light, mid and heavy version of the the general ARMs move-set they come up with. Heavy option would be characters like Max Brass, Mummy and Mech.
That way there's no need to make Max a menlet or pretend Spring is a tall boi. Could cover a good number of characters and give each grouping some options to show a bit of unique shit.
