Imagine being scared of a video game character lmao

These Lopers made X-Labs even more horrifying than undead levels

*wooosh*

Fuck Vores i hate those explosions and Shamblers too. I miss reading the enemies description in the N64 game booklet guide.

The howl alone is enogh

Out of all that levels in RtCW, the X-Labs is the one that stuck with me. Took me weeks to build up the courage to complete it. The atmosphere was really strong with how it made you fear turning every corner, lest there be a Loper there ready to dart at your face.

What's he gonna do? He doesn't even have legs.

pls no bully. I was like 3.

Not nearly as bad as spawns

I'm posting him before someone else does but he's not scary. If the Regenerator scared you, you literally weren't paying attention to the game
>told right before the encounter about this enemy type
>just got a scope that lets you see their weakness
>said scope attaches to pretty much any rifle in the game and any player that isn't a retard will carry arounda rifle in their first playthrough.

he cute

this shit scared me a kid

Attached: file.png (430x331, 327.58K)

This . Also those lopers who were behind the glass and suddenly jumped on you. I guess the easiest one were the Proto-Uberdoldats, you can anticipate them at least.

Holy shit yes, I started playing this game with zero fucking idea there were gonna be mutants in it. I shit my pants

These graphics are so aesthetically pleasing to me.

He's not that scary when you figure out his AI but the first time you fight him he's an unstoppable shit wrecker coming to ruin your score.

Attached: man-centipede-large.jpg (400x291, 20K)

The section of the game.ge appeared in was weak as shit. RE4 falls apart after you finish the castle. The military island was shit.

why, my peenus weanus of course :)

hahah! :D

it's my weeeeeenus peanus! :) hahah

ITT: Enemies that scared the shit out of me - my answer is, of course, my peanus weenus :D

hahaha!

>village
Perfect
>castle
really good
>island
fucking why

RE5 was better paced in its 3 acts than this

i shat my pants when the cutscene in the cave came up

these fucking freaks

he's gonna leap at you and stuff his electric balls down your throat

>RE5 was better paced in its 3 acts than this
>when the final act becomes a cover shooter with zombies that have miniguns
Man I even like RE5 but the African city and swamplands/ruins was so much better than the military base it isn't even funny. The only advantage the base has is the bosses are much better.

Yeah, that first one that jumps through the glass at the beginning lets you know you're gonna be in for a rough time. I wish the Proto-Soldats were just a tad bit faster when they chase you. They're pretty easy, otherwise.

I forgot about spawns. I remember those blue bastards would start leaping around if disturbed.

What game?

So every enemy in silent hill isnt scary because you can kill them easily?

first far cry

No because the enemies aren't what's scary about SH. Shit like the mirror room is scary, an enemy that slowly hobbles at you and is no real threat isn't scary.

Far Cry. The first one by Crytek before Ubisoft took over the franchise.

thanks

Unironically this. This is why Outlast did so well and was so popular. The second I get a fucking gun in a horror or pseudo horror game I instantly stop being scared and feel like a god.

>turns slow-mo
nothing personel replicant

I'd say the unsettling enemies are half of what makes the game scary, silent hill wouldnt be half as good if you replaced all the enemies with generic zombies. It's diffirent when you see something coming towards you and you have no fucking idea what it is, because its too inhuman.

Reapers only if they got too close i guess

Attached: Chris and Reaper.jpg (416x215, 27.92K)

So I'm saying 99% of what makes the game scary is achieved even if the game had 0 enemies.

I find early 3D graphics from the late 90s and very early 2000s to be ideal for creating horror and uneasiness. There's a certain abstract quality about it that leaves a lot to the imagination. Kinda hard to explain, but it's incredibly unsettling to me.

>silent hill wouldnt be half as good if you replaced all the enemies with generic zombies
Doesn't seem to be a problem for SH1 that 90% of the enemies in the game are generic as shit. And arguably the nurses are basically just zombies.

That's why hospital isnt scary except for the otherworld transition and the basement.

Attached: IMG_1090.jpg (413x552, 29.81K)

Let's not pretend the dogs or the not pterodactyls or the oversized cockroaches are all terrifying and imaginative monsters. SH1 enemies are mostly a dud. Including the bosses.

you encounter a few before you get the scope and up until that point in the game the only other enemies that are highly durable are knights and bosses. you’ve also likely been shooting at legs and these fuckers speed up instead of staying put like everything else

I agree, but grey children and the hopping things were solid designs, and the game has other ways to scare you, but with some creepier enemies it would be a lot better. I think it's one of the issues sh2 and 3 really fixed.

Underwater enemies in general fuck my shit up.

the sounds coming from these shits before seeing them made my skin crawl

>calming game has a water section
>it is no longer calming

The mutant rancor in Jedi Academy.
I was a wee lad when I played and it terrified me.

Attached: Mutatedrancor.jpg (552x573, 70.43K)

The animals humans evolved from were bullied out of water so there's no need to go back in

This fucker and the two dogs made me permanently nervous about hedge mazes. As a kid, the idea of an invincible trio that freezes you, with no apparent way to escape was horrifying.

Those suicide runners in NAM

Fuck Sewer

Attached: SewerLevel.png (1227x578, 1.07M)

Oh fuck that's a good one. I was at the age where I could still be scared of media and I remember running around that maze screaming not knowing where to go. I immediately remember the music too.

God, I miss this game. Remaster or re-release when?

Even the early part before the castle wall was a bit scary.
>two Cerberus, pretty easy
>screen goes darker, new couple is scarier and stronger
>screen goes completely black, the last cerberus are covered in flames and take away a big chunk of life, music goes almost silent

Game isn't a good Castlevania, but damn if it didn't have a good spooky tone and ambient.

The dogs from tomb raider scared the shit out of me

Yeah, the game has issues but it's still decent. A remake could do wonders, really.

BABIES
NEED SLEEP

>play with friends because why not
>came to this part of the game
>let it out a scream very loud
>everybody laughs

fuck this game.
