But what's bad on it? "Progression" isn't even really a thing in Sea of Thieves. Every pirate is on the same page health, stat, and weapon wise, it's all about simply being better skilled than other pirates to do well.

I mean Sea of Thieves is something that won't cater to many's falvor I get that. Some don't like the sailing taking time, or that it's a time intensive game to get a decent loot pile to sell, but I mean it's hard to perfectly finger down what Sea of Thieves means to me. Just the experience of setting sail to just roam the ocean and see what happens at all. Getting attacked by skeletons or monsters, or dealing with other player pirates and having fun combat with 'em. Or just going island to island doing random shit and getting a pile of loot all over your ship.

You don't need xbox live to play on PC, just a Microsoft account. Live is only for Xbox users, and even then, the game on XBOX is like $5 with the Pass. Some folks honestly just despise having any other party than Steam involved with a game. Not to say it isn't warranted, but it leads to paranoia.

consoles as a concept are pointless, the companies know that, microsoft much more than sony specially because they own the PC world when it comes to games.

Look at the consoles themselves, they are basically PCs with an operative system made only for games, it's like buying a PC which was purposely neutered for doing a single task.

Also consoles main advantage was always the local multiplayer and quick access to the games without installations and few loading screens, current consoles already fail on all of those aspects, the games are now gigantic and require to be downloaded, local multiplayer games died in order to make room for first person shooters and "cinematic experience" shooters, and the loading screens are worse on consoles than PC now due to slow hard drives and "average at best" hardware.

The main issue SoT has is the lack of meaningful content.
Every update is just cosmetics except veeeery sporadically some small new mechanic like the fire bombs, chain shot and such. Beyond that, it's almost the same game as of lunch. Poor enemy variety, shallow combat system and not much room for player agency besides trying to fuck others.
I actually think the core is amazing and the game could be fantastic, specially love that there's no PVP off servers, it's the whole package, but it falls flat on it's face once you realise you can do anything from the start. I'm aware they don't want veterans stomping newbies but they need to find a proper balance between "everyone has equal opportunities" and "Everyone is equially handicapped".

You go alone or in a cre of up to 4, be it randos or friends.
You're put in a server with total 30 players. PVP is always on, everywhere.
You're encouraged to get gold n shit for cosmetics (nothing else to unlock). You can do quests, steal it from other player or go to the "raids".
The game is as shallow as a puddle, but the world PVP is one of the funniest shit I've done with friends in long.
Btw if you play it once with the pass you keep the game once it's over, forever.

This was the common wisdom at the start of the current generation which is why all the consoles were under powered, half hearted abortions. They seem to have some renewed faith in the console project (investing in cutting edge hardware) while at the same time throwing away the only thing that gives their product value.

Both. It's called Open and Closed crew. But warned, Open crew tends to be full of usually crap pirates like kids for example.

Closed is easier, but to get folks for that, you'll probably have to go to the Sea of Thieves Discord and ask if folks wanna play with ya, which isn't hard to find, it's just a way to find and meet experienced pirates to play with.

But if you form a closed crew on a Sloop (1-2) player ship, you can totally just sail solo.

This is why the best combo is PC and a Nintendo console. I only have a PS4 for Bloodborne, there's no other reason to have one. Thank God Miyazaki has moved on from making Sony exclusives because I'll never need another Sony or Microsoft console.

I already put in a question to Rare asking. Most likely if they do, it'll be like "if you played the original W10 SoT for this long, you'll get it on Steam no problem". That would make sense.

Hard mode is definitely open crew sloop...90% of the time you are going to get some mongoloid who just wants to troll or a kid with their mom yelling in the background. Can't tell you how many reaper run missions ruined from kids joining and putting my PVP flag down mid-run.
