Especially since Nintendo barely marketed it.

Sure did.

Not compared to Splatoon numbers though. The game won’t get a sequel and will be relegated to cameos and references from now on. Maybe a spin-off in 5 years if we’re lucky.

It did better than I thought it would but I think Nintendo was hoping for another Splatoon-tier miracle and didn't get it.

>It didn't do as well as Nintendo's most successful new IP
Duh. It did better than lots of their other new IPs in the last ten years.

Love the game but this thing has barely any content, if it had a 10 hour campaign, deepened every character story and more events like splatoon did, it would be an amazing game

You shouldn't compare it to a shooter, compare it to other fighting games.

It outperformed heavy hitters like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Street Fighter V. I believe the only fighting games that have outsold it are Tekken 7 and Smash Ultimate.

It did, I think it just didn't have player retention, especially since Spla2n released not that long after.

Love how shitposters always feel the need to compare the sales to Splatoon.

Let's compare the sales of Splatoon with Mario Kart next and talk about how it's a failure

Or 2D Mario with 3D Mario.

ARMS is going to sell more than Metroid Prime 4.

Trialfrens, who is your main? For me, it's Kid Cobra.

Hopefully. Prime needs to stay dead.

This completely reliable livestream has CONFIRMED that it is cancelled and that Federation Force is replacing Samus.

Sadly the game has barely any content outside multiplayer and the multiplayer just appeals to competitor users. I think most of the 2m sales came from being a launch title. Fucking Knack sold 1M and that game stinks.

I do think the game can still win a sequel.

>Shitting on based Knack

Nintendo fan detected.

i love it but i wouldnt say it did well. arms sold around 2m and splatoon sold fucking 4m on the wii u of all things

This Angela Anaconda tier.

Yeah but splatting kinda set the new standard for Nintendo new ips

It was comparing to Nintendo’s other main new ip, comparing it to other fighting games is pointless really

the trial has sold me. i love this game

ARMS was fun at first but then a week in you've explored everything it has to offer and it's boring if you're not interested in online versus.
It needed a bigger and better single player campaign, with more LORE and customization. Also arcade mode is awful due to the forced basketball and volleyball minigames.

What's the point of all those sales if at least 80% of its playerbase quit out of frustration?

>ARMS was fun at first but then a week in you've explored everything it has to offer and it's boring if you're not interested in online versus.

So like every fighting game ever

Pretty much but at least other fighters have depth.

Arms is as deep as a puddle.

I'm still amazed that when you use the goo guy you can hear a bloop bloop bloop sort of dripping sound when throwing his punches.

And then you realise it's actually the rumble in the joycons programmed to sound like drips. So cool.

>Pretty much but at least other fighters have depth.

uh

Except that pic was made by a diehard Nintendo autist who shilled SFZ and Federation Force on Yas Forums

>F-Zero sales drop with each entry, GX only selling 1 million and the last ones even less
>"WTF why aren't Nintendo pumping out F-Zero games do they hate money"
>New IP sells 2 million
>"HAHA what a flop! WTF why is Nintendo giving it a Smash character and putting on a little online tourney THE GAME IS DEAD STOP SHILLING IT"

What I want to know is why ARMS and Splatoon designers haven't been allowed to touch real Nintendo IPs. The young blood at Nintendo have such a sense of style, I adore it.

I'm glad I got back into this, the combat has more depth than I thought. I don't really think a fighting game needs much more content than what ARMS had by the end of its life. The online functions well and unlocking more ARMS for each character is pretty good incentive to keep playing for a while. There's not much of a single player experience, but I don't see that as a big deal for a competitive fighting game.

Is there still a pretty active community?

I wish I could like arms. It’s got a lot of style. But gameplay just feels like a slow, boring version of Virtual On or something.

It did, but it got completely overshadowed by Splatoon2 a month later

Right now during the free trial yes

Seems that way, but it could just be the free trial week. People have been saying they never had trouble getting matches though.

The games still free on game trial

Play it fuckers

Wow that person's pretty upset about nothing. I wonder if they liked 3D World?

Same here. I absolutely love the visual design and characters, but every time I play it I just inherently dislike the pace of the game. Slowly tossing over punches feels wrong to me.

Sequel when

Getting my ass handed to me online

That's how I felt about it at first too, but it can get pretty fast paced once you know what you're doing. It's more like a long-range Punch Out with more movement and attack options. A lot of the game is about punishing over-commitments and reading movements while staying aggressive yourself to build meter. I thought some of the more similar ARMS were kind of pointless at first too, but they've all got hidden stats like extension and retraction speeds, homing, control, and floatiness along with the different uses for each element to set them apart and make them all worth using. The movement has a good amount of nuance to it too, especially with each character's unique movement options and movement stats. The game does feel pretty shit until you start digging into it though. They should really make this stuff more obvious to the player, maybe with a dedicated tutorial for each character along with stuff like hit confirms and elements.

Max Brass is great, Sky Arena is great, Dr Coyle thought Max Brass is great

Love beating the shit out of people using the game's tournament face.

Too bad it gets stale after 10 minutes

How long did it take splatoon to get into smash? Now how long for arms? Exactly

Git gud

Splatoon? 3 years.
Arms? 3 years.

>source: my ass
Most bought this as a casual game to play on the side. They didn't know it was a competitive fighter

Now which one is actually paid DLC? Damn splatoon bros no...

Starve the console of games and of course every piece of shit you release for it will sell

DBF sold over double ARMS and MK11 and Injustice blow it out of the water. I wouldn't be surprised if you're full of shit on that Street Fighter claim as well.

>starve
The console had just released at the time

Stop spamming your channel, faggot

I mainly wish the characters felt more distinct from each other.
It has kind of the same issue of SFV where the DLC characters feel like they're from the sequel to this game, mechanically, while the core cast is relatively simple in comparison.
I just want to be able to have some reliability in how fucking Barq behaves

user. C'mon. You know that's bullshit. Look at updated numbers

I'm sure if Nintendo gave arms a season 2 and season 3 and did huge patches, marketing and complete game overhauls like other fighting games do it could have kept selling too.

Barq acts on a timer.
1 second after you punch, he punches.
Fully charge to get him to punch at the same time as you.
After 6 seconds of no attacks, he'll throw a random punch. You gotta attack again to reset that one. You can hold block to move him directly in front of you. If he's knocked down, you can use rush to get him back up or just wait. You can make him stay under you when jumping on him by holding jump

I don't get the "it gets boring after a week" comments. It's a fighting game. Of course it gets boring as fuck after a week, they all do.

Splatoon sold 5M on a console with a 13M install base. Arms sold 2M on a console that, at the time, only had a few million units total. They sold comparable numbers in terms of percent of install base.

Casuals keep playing the story mode with other fighters. This doesn't have a lengthy story mode so casuals had to treat this game as something to bring out during gatherings. If you don't actually invite people over then you dropped it in a week.

>5 million
Didn't splatoon sell 4.3 mil? Did it just start selling all of a sudden? Source?

We don't play video games here, white boy

4.94
