I found the writing in NV to be really really bland and boring outside of a handful of characters, combine that with the genuinely awful visuals, horrendous gameplay and barren open world.

Why the fuck would they expect anyone to play the Legion route unless they've done literally all the others? It makes almost no sense. I guess it just has to be that they didn't have time to finish the legion because it is the most underwritten of the factions but also simultaneously the worst. While I don't particularly care about sexism or crucifixions, that alone is gonna stop 90% of players from ever wanting to interact with them.

This is almost always a cop-out from someone who has no accomplishments as an individual so they fall back on the herd.

They're not even compelling villains though. Everyone in the legion is a moron except for maybe Caesar, but it is not like he is such a fantastic leader that he captivates you. He is just sort of intelligent and competent but that is it. It would be like willingly becoming the second in command of a group of children because that is how most of them act.
I would prefer if the Legion was more compelling and more involved so I actually had more of a reason to play through them (other than wanting to get 100% of the achievements).

Mr. House is clearly the best option that also gives the biggest perks to the courier. New Vegas being independent puts a buffer between the NCR and its enemies out west, it stops the NCR from over expanding (as the game clearly says it does) and House is clearly a smart leader who knows what he is doing. He also actively wants your opinion and puts you in a leadership position.

i have to agree, i felt that the legion was way too cartoonishly evil to side up with them reasonably. Ceasar is cool and makes good points, but sadly it was all undercooked.
I probably would have toned down the sexism, not for brown points, but because it doesn't really add much to it and essentially gates you out of them if you play a female courier.

I felt like they should have had more time devoted to them, shame we will never see it...
Cause there's already quite a bit to chew on, i like the concept of "ncr is just trying to get back the government who fucked us all and the wasteland needs a new culture"
