I'm stuck at Undead Parish. My uchigatana and broadsword are both broken and I've only got some shortswords I can use. I'm supposed to kill the armoured boar with fire (or with melee), after which I'm supposed to kill those tall knights with just a smallsword.

Impossible task for a newbie? Should I just the game all over again?

run past them

If you've got the ugi you've got the repair box, so repair your weapons

Also you can lure the boar into the flaming cart afor an easy kill

You could sprint past and explore (probably die over and over but still) until you find the blacksmith.
If this REALLY doesn't work for you, you could instead go back to Firelink Shrine. If you follow the staircase next to the crestfallen warrior there, you'll find a lift. Go down the lift and follow the stairs from the tower, near the ledge, and you'll find a different blacksmith trapped in a little cell who can repair for you instead.

>If you've got the ugi you've got the repair box
he'd have to have bought it, and uchi is only from the kill, so...

I'm pretty sure you also get repair box from killing the merchant, otherwise it locks you out of it

Or can you get it from andre instead?

Yeah I had to look up when you first said that, because i forgot you could buy it from the merchant, you can buy it from Andre too.

I got the uchigatana by killing the merchant (someone on YouTube said that this is what you should do). I'm not sure if I have a repair box, I'll check it out!

>someone on YouTube said that this is what you should do
This is the biggest problem, user. DO NOT use YT or FAQ until you're really stuck in the game.
>but it's hard!!
What's hard is to adapt to this gameplay if you've never played any Souls game and if you just rush blindly and swing your sword like a fucking retard. Respawn enemies over annd over. Grind. Hell, play as a fucking pyromancer. But never use a FAQ if you're stuck on small things like this one. It will completely ruin your game.

use a plunging attack on the boar. also you're pretty close to discovering some resources that will make your time a bit easier just explore more around the parish.

>My uchigatana and broadsword are both broken

Huh? Did remaster make weapons break more often?

have you considered gitting gud?how tf did you break even 1 weapon already?

isn't there an item that lures the boar into fire for an easy kill right there

You made this thread yesterday.

Dont waste your time picking fights with everything that moves, just rush through open areas and try to find shortcuts and bonfires. Also if you want an op weapon, go to Firelink shrine, go down to the entrance to the graveyard with all the tombstones behind the dilapidated church looking building (thats next to the main firelink shrine) and rush through all those skeletons and get the Zweihander. Pump some stats into strength to use it.

Ah, Dark Souls 1. I haven't played this game in 4 fucking years.

Activate the shortcut on the bridge, farm souls, get a weapon and the repair kit from undead merchant. Hand axe is my fav.

How the fuck do you break 2 weapons?
I have never broke a weapon outside of crystal because they can never be repaired.

i seem to remember doing a thrust attack up the boars asshole for some reason..like he drops something?

The armored boar? He doesn't drop anything meaningful I think, other than his helm.

In Dark Souls 2 they drop red cracked orbs but they stop spawning after a while even if you're in champions covenant.

They can be repaired by upgrading them, and it takes a decent amount of hits to break them too, probably at least 100.

Man it sucks that's the only way to repair crystalsl weapons and armor.

What the fuck was the point of those?

The shortsword has 78 AR. 4 whole points less than a broadsword, and it has a thrust. Those tall knights aren't as intimidating as all that. You have a shield. Use it.

Crystal weapons? Just think of them as a finite resource. You equip them when you've had so many goes at a boss and need that extra bit of AR to finish the fight quickly, or in situations where your main weapon needs three swings to kill a mob while crystal takes two.

>got the uchi
>knows how to kill boar
>stuck at Undead Parish
>newbie
Why even make posts like this

Nigger, why would you kill a friendly NPC and a merchant at that? The only ones who deserves death are Petrus and Lautrec.

It's not inconceivable that someone could be so inept as to repeatedly fail through the Burg and Parish, attack the merchant out of tilt or to see if he'll drop his merchandise and / or souls traded for said merch, and read a message saying "try fire".

>every area in dark souls

>Learn how to plunge attack in the tutorial
>There’s a bridge RIGHT ON TOP of the boar
Not to mention the boar’s AI usually spazzes the fuck out and runs into fire.

A quick reminder that if you use guides or youtube during your first run, you should get hanged

Real question is. Do you have Master key? If you have it, visit Blacksmith. If not, start again with Master key.

If you didn't kill the undead merchant like a retard, you could have bought a repairbox from him.

nah, shortsword should be enough to get you through. Avoid the boar for now, you don't actually have to kill it. You could try running past the knights for now and make a turn towards the bridge that leads into the wooded area with a building at the end - On the lowest floor of said building there's a blacksmith who can repair your shit. (You'll hear him as he strikes his anvil as you get closer)

>Master key for his first DS run

Fuck that, that thing can screw up the entire difficulty curve if he is unlucky

I think Uchi is better choice.

>difficulty curve
Yeah. Or make it easier. I can't amigine playing DaS without it. It makes game linear.

>Uchi at Parish

I haven't played in years. Does Uchi really come up that early?

imagine. Fuck me

lol
Probably bait but I want to believe

well, yes - that's whole point. Makes sense for his first run to go along with the difficulty curve From designed, no? With the Master Key he legit might run straight into Blightown instead of going to Undead Parish

Retart
Pick Falchion class or buy Scimitar early
2H it
equip high poise
buff weapon
Press R1 a lot

Shits on 99% of the game until you learn the game well

What is bad about that? I made it to boar from opposite side. It was easier for me. He will have to visit Blightown sooner or later.

if you kill the vendor before Taurus, yeah

This has to be fake.
Christ almighty, why can't people just fucking play a game now? Why they gotta look up wikis and YouTube? If you miss shit, who cares? You don't know you missed it until you go ahead and look up guides anyway so why ruin the surprise?

>someone on Youtube said
Fuck off, play this without a guide

Not everybody wants to replay a game like an autist, even one as good as Dark Souls.

My first time I missed the DLC world and the painted area, which is great content.

>killing the guy that sells you arrows for one stupid weapon you can get lafer
wtf why would you do that? Just cut the dragon's tail if youre that bad at the game.

>using a guide
You deserve to start over, dumbass

I agree the first play through should always be blind but Souls games have some dumb shit people might never find no matter how many play thoughts. Especially if you’re playing offline with no messages.
I did find Ash Lake on my second play through without guide/messages though because I was so paranoid of mimics I attacked every chest regardless of the chain position.

Fpbp, DaS games become trivial or just tedious once you realize the only things that matter are reaching bonfires and killing bosses, make suicide runs for equipment, and farm souls for upgrades or levels when you have to.

this, i sometimes looked stuff up and now regret it because it completely tainted my first experience of the game.

that said how can you kill a friendly npc for a drop? jesus christ it's an rpg, at least try roleplaying a bit and don't be a minmaxing faggot that ruined the dark souls fandom

>playing souls games for the challenge
nigger these games aren't even difficult, the thing that makes them good is the atmosphere and overall feeling of the game

This is why DaS2 is the best.

Its harder to just run past things there.

Is it too difficult to buy the entire inventory of merchants and have the toolbox at your bonfire?
Why the fuck nobody does this?
Oh no wait, you killed him.

>What the fuck was the point of those?
To use on bosses.

I guess but by the time you can ascend to crystal you're already pretty far in the game if you're not a veteran rushing to get it.

A lot of weapons that would be good in the beginning are found in high level zones. Maybe to encourage multiple playthroughs. I use crystal for early game boss fights in NG+ when using my +15 weapon would feel too cheesy.

>I'm supposed to kill the armoured boar
Once you're on the bridge just throw some alluring skull into the fire, he'll run to it and burn to death because he's retarded

>start game as bandit (14 strength)
>level str to 16
>level dex to 10
>pick up zweihander from the graveyard next to firelink
gg, the game is now fun. enjoy pancaking enemies flat to the ground and staggering bosses every hit. dexfags btfo

you can always dig yourself out of whatever hole you're in in ds. farm souls, make small progress etc. it's all about persistence. experimenting is good but so is becoming comfortable with a weapon. nothing wrong with consulting a guide if you are frustrated. the game is still fun on multiple playthroughs once you know what to do

I just used god mod on that broken enemy. If the game gonna pull some bullshit, i'm gonna do the same.

this sounds like a good time to bust out my parish invader
