>enter a 1v1 without a shield
the single most important skill in the game is Athletics, it lets you run out the enemy easily so you can have long 2h or polearm weapon and just strafe around/backpedal without enemy able to reach you, while you hit them

LIFE LIKE REALISTIC COMBAT

I did shit like that in rpgs when I was too stupid to realize I had to grind more. Is that really the optimal strategy for a game? It sure isn't "fun"

>the single most important skill in the game is Athletics
lmao just get a horse

nah, theres million strategies

You can be mounted archer, can actually learn how to parry and block, just command troops without entering battles, wear full plate and lol at people trying to hit you etc. The polearm+runspeed is just easiest if you don't want to bother learning fighting, but want to kill ppl

i bet most newfag horsefags don't even know that to raise athletics you have to travel on the MAP without horse even. And thats the skill that directly raises your HP too...

>enter a battle with a less than 2:1 troop advantage
You can easily win battles with 1:3 troop disadvantage if you only use archers, and without taking any casualties too

>fight opponent with shield
>randomly get hit because the shield isn't in front of you because of directional controls
Why did they added directional controls for shields exactly? All it does is randomly make a parry to not work, and kinda force the habit of spamming overhead swings for extra measure.

>And thats the skill that directly raises your HP too...
Its as if being a lazy fuck who rides a horse all the time is bad for your health.

>Is running around like a retard truly the most optimal strategy?
