Aeris or Aerith?

Word of God confirmed Aerith. It's supposed to be a play on "earth".

sephiroth or sephiros

Attached: 1585804391634.png (595x566, 151.17K)

Sephiroth/Sephirot is already an actual thing

Aerith, you know, like a maniac trying to say "earth".

I mean aren't most name in ff7 refence to hebrew kaballah and assyrian?
erets = earth = Aerith
Tifaret = beauty = Tifa
theres a few more but you get the point

Aerith isn't a real name so aeris

Decomposing corpse

keep seething Tifafag

Aeris, the "th" version is a mistranslation.

other way round faggot

kill yourself

Aeris

Real question; why do FFfags insist on using roman numerals?

Aerith just sounds like you're saying Aeris with a lisp.

Aeris just sounds like a mistranslation, oh wait, it is

>Tifa by far the better of the two in original
>make Tifa some freakish doll-faced chink while making Aeris 10/10

What did they mean by this?

Attached: 1474942750545.png (272x418, 243.56K)

Sure, but if you played it when it came out and were unaware of the actual name, it just sounds like saying it with a lisp.

Isn't it progressive? Those dirty coomers using Tifa for fap material, we must ruin her by turning her into a slit faced insectoid

All Japanese men lust for white women

It's Aerith

It's Aeris Dies dot Coom

i love her

I call her dead girl.

Aerith. SE has confirmed it countless times over the last 2 decades as the correct translation. FF7 had a notoriously shit translation. Aerisfags are all one of two things. Nostalgiafags who can't get over it because they grew up with it and refuse to acknowledge the original translation was shit (these are the same people who defend Ted Woolsey's shitty translations). The others are EoPs who like to pretend they know anything about Japanese anyone who says its Aeris because her name in Katakana ends in ス can be immediately ignored because they know NOTHING about Japanese or Japanese to English translation.

So why didn't they make Tifa, the one who will get more screentime, white?

Aeris, 'th' sound at the end of a word sounds retarded.

>Aeris, 'th' sound at the end of a word sounds retarded.
Not an argument. I see Aeristards give this excuse constantly but it is not a valid reason especially with SE stating Aeris is wrong.

so I guess you say tees or teef instead of teeth

Japs are notoriously bad at English, I see no reason to respect their "canon translation". Just because they can't pronounce things properly doesn't mean I have to as well.

Aeris.

Attached: yes.gif (200x176, 1.28M)

japanese can't even pronounce "th". dumb chinks.

aerith just sounds like shit. it leaves the mouth like a worm.

that is all. thank you for reading.

makes you sound gay.

Do Aeristh

no shit, do you even know what katakana is

Fucking weebs
>I pronounce it Earisu like the cultured people of Nippon, b-baka gaijin!

Sefirot and Aeris

Attached: 15109094343621.jpg (640x640, 32.86K)

what? that was literally the opposite of my point, you're the one that said they can't pronounce "th"
Katakana is Japs trying to speak english

-roth works
-rith sucks

Neither.
Aegis=Egis
Oedipus=Edipus
Aerith=Eris.
Gooks using a latin name is still fucking latin.

Aeris sounds better. They should have just rolled with the mistranslation. Who gives a shit about the "purity" of the original text. Japs butcher western sounding names all the time.

If we really gave such a hot shit about sticking to the developer intentions why do we still have Terra instead of Tina.

Oh, and
>they meant Earth
Fuck off, call her Tera

the fuck did you say to me?

AeriSU

I understand that was the original intent and I’m not saying it wasn’t, I’m saying once the game in the west released with the name Aeris, and millions of people played FF7 and experienced that journey with Aeris, then that character IS “Aeris” within the zeitgeist and public consciousness. There is truly no reason for them to go to all the effort to “change” her name to Aerith except for Japanese autism. There is nothing wrong with the name Aeris and eastern and western properties can have different names for the exact same thing with literally zero problem. He’s Bowser in America but he’s Koopa in Japan. He used to be Eggman in Japan and Robotnik in America until they decided to change his English name to Eggman too. Eventually people got used to calling him Eggman, but was this change really necessary? There are millions of Sonic fans who stopped playing after the Genesis games that still call him Robotnik. Am I supposed to correct them every time? Did it really benefit this character to have to change his name? Was it really worth it to give him his “correct”, “original” name and just erase the perfectly good name Robotnik, a name many people still prefer? Some would argue yes, actually, I don’t really think so but I’ve gotten over the name change and I see there are a lot of egg puns and egg related robots that make a bit more sense if you use his original, whatever, it’s up for debate is all I’m saying.

What about Elisabeth? Do you prefer writing the name as Elisabes?

Now answer this: what TRULY is the benefit of going to all the effort of to tell fans their entire original memory of the game was wrong, to change an “s” to a “th”? Why? Who gives a shit? So it sounds more like the word “Earth” so fucking what? The word Aeris sounds like the word Earth too. You can still “get” the “symbolism” (if you can even call it that). Even if you couldn’t frankly it’s just not that important of a change. I mean stop and really, REALLY think about how the game is “improved” by changing Aeris to Aerith? Because it’s “more correct”, not to the original source beloved by millions, but to the foreign creator’s translation preference? Again not get stuck on this Eggman thing but I think it’s clear that Japs just objectively think English words sound cool and they don’t realize how retarded of a name “Eggman” sounds in English. That’s WHY they localized his name to Robotnik in the first place. So frankly what Japanese think sounds or looks better IN ENGLISH actually doesn’t really concern me that much, I’d rather trust the people who actually speak English. And I personally happen to think Aeris sounds better than Aerith, I mean fuck that’s all this stupid argument ever really comes down to anyways. My point is that if it sounds better in English, and it’s already THE ENGLISH NAME, what actual tangible benefit is there in changing it? There might be one in some cases but I do NOT see it in the Aeris/Aerith change. Again, if what’s “more correct” is so important why not call him Koopa instead of Bowser?

when did magic get so big on so many creatures with multiple mana colors?

getting upset about localization choices is such a minute thing when massive plot elements were ruined by compilation shit

it's hebrew not latin
Berit = promise = Barret
not to mention Aegis, Oedipus and Eros are all fucking Greek
Qliphot = Opposite of Sephirot = Cloud

Both Eggman and Robotnik are still used officially. His real name is Ivo Robotnik and Eggman is his nickname.

Why do people feel the need to write essays on why her name should be Aeris?

Attached: aerithwallmarketdress.jpg (275x434, 63.49K)

The jap ego is also extremely fragile. Any popular character that is not jap they will turn jap, or at least play it off like "they were always part japanese you see." They did it to Jill, Ken, Snake, and now they're doing it to Tifa except this time they said fuck it and went full conversion.

Sounds like Americans

Because it's a permanent reminder aerith is wrong?

Because you dont need to build a mountain to defend your standpoint when its right
Its like if some fag tried to argue that FF6 is actually FF3 because thats what he knew it as first despite it being wrong
Or mispronouncing a word on purpose because you learned it from reading and refuse to use the correct one after learning it

Aeris dies.
Aerith lives.

What exactly is wrong with japs making their characters jap? Sounds a million times more respectable than whites making their characters niggers.

Earisu

Reading - Aeris
Writing - Aerith

It was officially confirmed both are correct and validated by people that teach Japanese and know English.

test

Not that user and I dont think theres anything inherently wrong with it but as far as worldbuilding goes it loses a bit a variance since wutai was the defacto "asian" area
Its really not that big of a deal though cloud is a fantasy man from a fantasy universe
