I can't believe I used to listen to this kind of shit
I can't believe I used to play F2P FPS games and GunZ the duel while listening to it.
TEN PERCENT LUCK
I still listen to it, unironically. Good music is good music and if you just want to unwind after a shitty day with any customer-facing job, anything that helps is cool.
bad music. shit taste. grow up. cope.
I DON'T KNOW WHY
>stop liking what i don't like
OK
What are your embedded sedimentary memories while listening to Hybrid Theory/Meteora Linkin Park?
For me its huddled in front of my windows 95 tier shitbox at midnight playing Diablo with blankets wrapped all over me. And Worms Armaggedon.
Fuck you I liked it

I never realized this was a thing that people besides me experienced. It's honestly one of the few ways I can even enjoy music, it has to always be when i'm doing something else, and feel like I can associate it with that activity, and every time i listen to that music, i remember it fondly because of those tied memories.
For Linkin Park, there's too many to name, but unironically for From the Inside, there used to be a Naruto AMV I used to watch a bunch because the editing was pretty good for a 2010ish internet video. They had even synced character mouths to lyrics at certain points (mostly during Shinoda's smoother lyrics) and swapped to action scenes (with Chester's screaming lyrics). Regrettably lost to time, because it was on a YouTube competitor video platform that died like 7 years ago, and I never saved a local copy of the video. There's plenty more, but that's my most memorable one.
I'd like to someday make a proper Samurai Jack AMV to Nobody's Listening. But part of that would be predicated on if we ever get a quality bluray release of the the original seasons of Samurai Jack which I liked better than the finale season recently. Just an example:

I had a friend that was a diehard Linkin Park fan. He tried so hard to get me to like them too. Looking back on it now, I feel like I tolerated them at best, and Mike Shinoda's rhymes were the weakest rhymes on the planet. Like holy shit they were bad. He wrote one good line
>I hate my rhymes
>I hate everyone else's more
At least there, he was brutally honest about himself, and it actually came off as genuine. As for the rest
>yo it's Mike, he doesn't need his name up in lights he just needs a song where him and his friends lyrically circle jerk each other

Playing pool with a friend at my house. you were a cool dude, joe
Thanks
It's fine to not like something. Sometimes that happens when a friend is a bit aggro with trying to get you into something, and you might dislike something more because of that, even though you might otherwise be neutral to it.
I like Shinoda's rap lyrics. They read like sentences and actually say something sensible often, a lot of other rap repeats a chorus often. Like, I really like Snoop Dogg's Jin and Juice, but look at this chorus:
Rollin down the street, smokin indo, sippin on gin and juice
Laid back [with my mind on my money and my money on my mind]
Rollin down the street, smokin indo, sippin on gin and juice
Laid back [with my mind on my money and my money on my mind]
There's not really a lot going on here, and there's not a lot being said. Snoop's recounting memories of strolling down the street, smoking, and drinking, but thinking back about issues with money. Like I said, I love jin and juice ever since I heard it in GTA and the radio, but, perhaps it's just my opinion, but you can glean a lot of information about a mood, self-reflecting thoughts, desires, etc from most of Shinoda's lyrics in most LP songs.
>be kiddy
ok
>linkin park naruto AMV
why are we such stereotypes goddamn
lmao I love the song but every time I'm like "How the fuck is this guy so fucking ugly ?"
In hindsight, the best linkin park song is giving up. When it was released it seemed fake af, they were rich and successful and living the good life and they write this song about horrible depression, but then ya boi chester committed to the bit and followed through.

>I move away
>he's been in drug problems for atleast 5 years and looked like a dude weed lmao stoner the last time I checked
>too much of a pussy to check facebook
I hope you're alright Dillon
He's gonna pull a Chester soon, user.
I DOOONT KNOW WHYYYYYYYYYYY
Yeah but you're comparing g-funk rap with "social" rap.
These lyrics from Snoop are braindead, but that's what you ask from this type of song, it's not a song to reflect on society, it's a song to touch the ass of a black girl.
>A lot of other rap repeats a chorus
Mos Def :
Like 69 billion in the last 20 years
Spent on national defense, but folks still live in fear
Like nearly half of America's largest cities is one-quarter black
That's why they gave Ricky Ross all the crack
16 ounces to a pound, 20 more to a ki
A 5 minute sentence hearing and you're no longer free
40% of Americans own a cell phone
So they can hear everything that you say when you ain't home
I guess Michael Jackson was right, you are not alone
Rock your hardhat, black, 'cause you in the Terrordome
GrandMaster Flash :
My son said, Daddy, I don't wanna go to school
'Cause the teacher's a jerk, he must think I'm a fool
And all the kids smoke reefer, I think it'd be cheaper
If I just got a job, learned to be a street sweeper
Or dance to the beat, shuffle my feet
Wear a shirt and tie and run with the creeps
'Cause it's all about money; ain't a damn thing funny
You got to have a con in this land of milk and honey
Nas :
Young boys, you can use a lot of help, you know
You thinking life's all about smoking weed and ice
You don't wanna be my age and can't read and write
Begging different women for a place to sleep at night
Smart boys turn to men and do whatever they wish
If you believe you can achieve, then say it like this
Wu Tang :
Homicide's illegal and death is the penalty
What justifies the homicide, when he dies in his own iniquity?
It's the master of the Mantis Rapture comin' at ya
We have an APB on an MC Killer
Looks like the work of a master
Evidence indicates that his stature
Merciless like a terrorist hard to capture
The flow changes like a chameleon
Plays like a friend and stabs you like a dagger
This technique attacks the immune system
Disguised like a lie, paralyzin' the victim
No joke, another one of my friends is (was if he went through with it) insanely suicidal. He's like 2 years younger than me, has 3 children and a national guard who never saw action. He posted literally every day about killing himself or doing a murder suicide. he's also black and grew up better than I did.
I listened to a lot of Linkin Park and other HARDCORE music from around that time while playing WoW. I also listened to WoW parody songs. I get really clear memories of playing when I hear certain songs. I wasted so much time on that fucking game.
IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY
I've never cared about music unless it was associated to some game or cartoon. My friends tried to get me into different bands but I only liked the ones with cool music videos

I had a pretty dedicated guild that cleared BT but they fell apart by Funwell because of IRL stuff. I just did PVP in LK because Death Knights were game breakingly fun to play, especially early Unholy with their ghoul rez bullshit.
I miss Chester so much, lads. It's almost been 3 years already. I grew up listening to him as a kid and was a fan ever since. I had tickets for their One More Light tour that would've been 2 weeks after he died. I'll always regret not seeing them sooner, but at least Mike is always working on new music.
We posting raps over video game music?

>I had a pretty dedicated guild that cleared BT but they fell apart by Funwell because of IRL stuff.
I was in a pretty small realm in France, so the lvl was absolutely garbage, it was ridiculous, but I didn't know. Only one guild in the whole server could do sunwell as far as I remember. And they didn't clean it completely until the pre LK nerf.
>I just did PVP in LK because Death Knights were game breakingly fun to play
I don't remember when it was implented but at one point, arenas came out with a new rule stating that if the time was up, the team who managed to keep their health points the highest would win.
And the comp went Heal Drood with DK and you just couldn't make their life go down so they would win the timer. I'm talking real shitter lvl like 1400 or something.
Big brain post. Baste.
