getting a hacked switch changed my opinion on the console itself. it's still underpowered and gimmicky, but goddamn is it a great emulation machine. the best you can do outside of a pc or raspberry pi imo, in terms of flexibility. it's been a good way to play my PS1 backlog on my living room tv during quarantine. i can even emulate doom wads.

as for sales, it's probably got something to do with ads. i see switch commercials on tv all the time, but i can count the ps4 ads i've seen on one hand, and the xbone ads on a fist. they also market to kids and families instead of dudebros and jungle bunnies, which is guaranteed money

I probably should have worded that better. I mean that when I went handheld I actually took it out of the house. When at home I will take it out of the dock and just play it on my bed every now and then.

Even when docked I don't mind it being underpowered, it's a Nintendo console, I go into it for the unique experiences.
