Problem is that game devs have forgotten how to tell a story without interrupting the game.
I think BotW was a tiny ass step in the right direction in that we get to see how utterly ballsacked Hyrule was by flying around it rather than it showing us the second we hop in in a cut scene.
But it ain't no Thief: The Dark Project.
