The original experience succeed at delivering a timeless masterpiece, ergo the mere fact of having a "remake" will potentially remove all great aspects that make the OG Deus Ex great.

Deus Ex is one of those games that is very much a sum of its parts and any attempt to remake it would inevitably lose what makes it special.

The entire series is on sale on Steam rn. Is this worth getting and if yes which ones? I heard it's similar to Prey 2016 which I really liked.

Deus Ex, HR and MD are worth playing

Invisible War is jank but if you REALLY need to play it, just play them all in release order. This way you can wash off the bad taste of IW with HR. That's what I did and have no regrets. The writing is more simplistic in the new games and focus too much on augs but they have nice art style.

The original and Human Revolution. Although if you want something similar to Prey then something like System Shock 2 or even the Bioshock games would be more your speed.

Hasn't happened with OG Deus Ex yet so I remain optimistic

only DE GOTY and HR are worth playing, MD is the first part of a trilogy they'll never end up making

What would be acceptable to add if anything was added?
I'd want to see a lot more toxic / water areas so the relevant augs / skills / items weren't such memes.
Maybe also rescale the dragon tooth sword with melee so it does as much damage when mastered but significantly less if untrained

IW gets shit for being so janky and consolefied but it's still a fun romp through everything. It had a few fun little side plots that follow you though the game, different starts to missions depending on the pilot you choose, and still a bunch of secrets to discover.

IW is like the little brother who became a successful tradesman while his older brother is the president of the United States.

I’d actually like to see a dramatically revamped remake of Deus Ex 1, with the Human Revolution style dialogue system and gameplay improvements, and expanded lore. If I wanted the original again, I’d just play the fucking original since it’s already perfect.

Making the hubs feel a bit less empty would be my #1 thing.

Just imagine how dumbed down the political and philosophical themes and references would be. Just look at HR and MD. Their gameplay is great, but they clearly weren't interested in things like effective tax rate, consolidation, REX 84, false flag terrorism, or anything like that. I'd hope a true deus ex follow up would discuss things like Alabama Syphilis, Operation Northwoods, or dancing Israelis.
