I get that the events of Persona 2 don't really lend themselves to being prominent in later games but it would be great to see some acknowledgement of the Persona timeline's origins. If only to confirm that things like Izanami, Nyx, and Yaldaboth have indeed been trying to fill YHVH's void.
p5 in and of itself is a big allusion to p2. the phantom thieves are remarkably similar to the masked circle, yaldy uses nyarly-esque tactics despite being the exact opposite alignment, the omnipresence of the phansite feel like a modern take on "rumors," katsuya is profiled on the news, and you even get to collect a crystal skull at one point in the game. hackshino is not exactly known for his originality.

Megaten games really don't have that much variation in their main stories to be fair. The good shit in their stories tend to be the moments throughout and how certain events are written based on what variables are changed. But they all basically boil down to "The plot of Final Fantasy 1-6 plus varying degrees of moral philosophy"
But since game journos and game players tend to not be intellectuals, they just throw the blanket term "great story" on top of a pretty generic story with a couple of interesting twists but really good philosophical undertones.
