Why is this considered the best in the series?
Why is this considered the best in the series?
Because it's the best in the series
It isn't though. 5 is generally considered to be best by most people.
meant for
contrarians consider it the best without thinking about how much of a fucking slog it is to actually play.
The real Personachads are the ones who acknowledge that P3FES is truly the peak of the franchise.
This. I think P2 has easily the best story and characters but the gameplay is such a slog
By people who only played 5
5 easily has worst story and main characters
Because like 20 people have played it total
Couldn't tell you honestly.
Game wasn't bad but the plot for me was just ok. Rumors becoming reality was cool and all but the actual events were just alright.
The plot of Eternal Punishment is basically Innocent Sin's plot but with adults. Cool concept but without funny Hitler man the plot doesn't have much going on outside of a couple of Persona 1 references.
Persona 3 has an awful and overall halfbaked and under utilized cast. The only characters who get a shred of development worth a damn are Yukari and Junpei.
Persona 2 uses the psychology, occult and mythology themes of SMT much better than the other Persona games. I also like the little details like how every character can equip multiple Personas and ot just the MC, although everyone has their own designated Arcana that gives them a bonus affinity for using.
Them being under utilized is a point I will give you, but at least they don't feel like basic anime tropes
Contrarians.
Does it have social links?
I've only played 4 and 5 so far. I'd rate the characters as about equal. 5 had a much better story thanks mostly to the first arc, which is absolutely fantastic. The stories are so different that direct comparisons aren't super helpful, though. Overall I'd say 5 is a much better game thanks to all of the gameplay refinements, but 4 is still a great experience.
I haven't played it yet but judging from Yas Forums hivemind I bet the gameplay is actually decent. Yas Forums told me SMT if... was bad and 2 was good but they got it backwards
best music
adults doing adult things
no teenage idiots
actual villain instead of childish concepts of evil
>The real Personachads are the ones who acknowledge that P3FES is truly the peak of the franchise.
Absolutely based
>P3 gameplay is not a mind numbing slog
This is wrong
Persona 2 is a slog to play. SMT games the gameplays are always the focus and the most important part of the game, with the story taking a backseat. Persona 5 has great gameplay (I mean, for a JRPG), therefore it's the superior Persona game and a cut above the rest.
>P3FES
I honestly feel like P3P's better. I'm not a FeMCfag either. The open world in the original was barren and uninteresting (the Persona series has this problem in general to be fair) so taking out the mandatory padding sections where you have to walk about in it actually benefits the overall experience in my opinion. The Answer is nothing special either, even most people who prefer FES seem to agree with that much at least.
That's true for SMT, but not for Persona, especially not 3-5
>SMT games the gameplays are always the focus and the most important part of the game
and like Persona none of them are good in that regard. Atlus are actual hack developers, I'm not sure if they've ever made a good game.
Persona 3's combat is WAY more boring than both versions of 2.
>Adults doing adult things
Maya and Katsuya were doing their jobs at the beginning sure but after that everyone just goes in an adventure around the town like the teenagers did.
That's wrong though, and don't bother with your paragraphs of cope
what people?
Hail to the King
That's one of the biggest lies I've ever heard.
>actual villain instead of childish concepts of evil
The fucking villain that P2fags loves to felate so much is the most cliched and moustache twirly concept of evil ever created are you fucking kidding me?
>P3poster calling others contrarians
Ironic.
Persona and SMT fans agree with me even if they don't like to admit it, the only gameplay-related discussions amongst fans these games get is about how bad the gameplay in them are.
>5 is generally considered to be best by most people
yeah, only because it's the first and only entry people have played in the series these days, unfortunately.
5 absolutely has the most refined gameplay of any modern Persona title by far. If you deny that you truly are a massive contrarian. Argue the merits of story all you want, but mechanically 5 is the most polished and it shows.
Persona 2 combat
>different enemies in each area
>encounters easily bypassed with negotiation, as well as giving entertaining interactions
>secret conversations players can trigger with knowledge of myths
>team attacks are OP in IS, but in EP represent endgame and the ability to plan for encounters.
Persona 3 combat
>copy pasted enemies with the same moves and skins
>resolve fights the same way by spamming weaknesses
>boss fights rely on grinding for items and RNG
As compared to what?
4 doesn’t isn’t good and 5’s is damn well not good
Persona 5 is literally style over substance
They should do that again.
Make it so they can only have different personas from their designated arcana
ok retard
>different enemies in each area
with an encounter rate way too fucking high
>negotiation
interactions that are interesting the first time but old by the 10th, and that's only a fraction of the amount of times they play out
>secret conversations
and?
>team attacks
EP is still easy, it's just tedious as fuck.
Only good for its story
Gameplay isn’t much to talk about especially with EP PSP QOL changes
5s excuse is that it had the most tweaked Gameplay and that’s it.
>port of superior psp version never ever
This is fucking torture. I can't move on. How could I possibly play the superior psp verison of IS and then the PSX version of EP when a port coud potentially be around the corner? I'm autistic I need to go in order. 1, 2, and then the ones everyone says is so good. I have to be able to catch subtle references and bitch about which game is worse than the last.
I'm not here to argue story, user. Mechanically, 5 is clearly superior from a gameplay standpoint, with unique dungeons, EXP share, meaningful confidant bonuses for non-party members, unique dungeons (yes, it's that important), additional attack types, and Baton Pass. Did I mention unique dungeons?
>4 doesn’t isn’t good
That doesn't excuse how god awful Nyarly actually is
>and 5’s is damn well not good
Yaldabaoth is not the final boss anymore so not concept of evils here and again that doesn't excuse the fact that Nyarly is a horrible villain
And even with those grievances a single fight takes more though than a P3 Tartarus floor section.
Eh...less of a slog then P2 but it’s still not the best I’ll admit
Shido is the real final boss of vanilla anyways, just like Adachi was. Nobody gives a shit about the random demon god stuff as compared to the human antagonist you've spent all game fighting.
P4 does Narlys concept better than he did. Instead of manipulating every single aspect of his so called plan, she just gave humanity some powers and fucked off for the majority of the plot.
>better gameplay
Yes
>Exp share,Baton bass
It is based, yes
>meaningful confidant bonuses
Only a few are good
>additional attack types
Doesn't add or change much
>unique dungeons
While yes, they are unique, they are a huge slog to play though again after the first time
I would really like that. It would be nice if they added the laundry list of elements and skill types from the first two games as well. I thought P5 was a step in the right direction with Gun, Psychic and Nuke. But I'm still disappointed that they combined physical attacks into one property. That's gay and retarded. It was cool how in P5 there were attacks that would stack two damage types like Fire+Sword for example. That was very novel and I'd like to see that in Persona 6.
>The concept of subconscious human evil manifested through the protagonist's insecurities and authority figures, who manipulates people into believing false mythology is a cliche
Did you pay attention?
>Shido is the real final boss of vanilla anyways
Vanilla is not the canon version anymore so this guy is the new final boss
Not really, no. It's just "do I conserve resources or not" at the end of the day, same as P3.
Meanwhile P3 has strategy in how you approach Shadows, something P2's Random Encounters severely lack. And you can't say the technology when fucking Chrono Trigger and Earthbound removed random encounters a generation prior.
Exactly, Nyarly is the random demon god, and Joker is the real villain of P2
>I'm the bad side of humanity so I'm evil
Truly a ground breaking concept
It isn't at all. It has a slightly better story than the others but absolutely dogshit gameplay. You are genuinely better off just watching the story instead of actually slogging through that shitshow.
Actually the fan translation is done, they just have to put it into the fucking game.
I meant stacking types were in P2, woops
I don't see how anyone who played 4 can think the cast of 5 is worse then that. Almost everyone in 4 is such a shallow whiny piss ant I couldn't stand it. Yosuke has to be the most annoying character in this series.
>Meanwhile P3 has strategy in how you approach Shadows
>I hit enemy before they hit me.
Nope. You can run through entire floors without fighting anything.
Because Maya is the best girl in the entire series.
Nemissa close second.
That doesn't remove the mechanic, dumbass. You still have to fight shadows.
Because of contrarians
They do though. Everyone in Persona from 3 on is just some variation on cliche anime tropes.
Only story
Gameplay: no
Music: it’s tied with 3 for best osts
Characters: yes
Vilian: depends, but majority of Persona Villians are ass
Themes: Again ties with 3
I don't know which one I like best, that one or Infinite Sin, but I guess Eternal Punishment wins out by not being so braindead easy and the novelty of having a (mostly) all adult cast. Infinite Sin's story was more satisfying though.
Because contrarians don't want to admit Persona started getting good at P3 like any person with an IQ above one digit
What Persona games were never good to begin with?
based even though Maya was way worse in EP compared to IS
>Humanities own fears, insecurities, and self-loathing are what will eventually destroy us.
>lmao le evil tentacle man XD
because the eight SMT2 boomers that actually played through it are very loud and won't shut the fuck up about it
5 only has good gameplay and that’s honestly it
This, I feel like 2 fleshed out the concept of Persona the most out of all in the series, much more than 1. The whole thing between Philemon and Nyarly is the closest the Persona series has to an overarching "lore".
5
for the same reason lots of people considered Sonic CD the best even tho it was the worst. Most haven't even played it. But I played it when it released back in the day. Played it again a few years ago and guess what? The game fucking sucks.
