Material switch? This is literally just settings set to "low" internally. This is a unreal 4 game, you can see some of the meshes aren't full quality either and they'd be stupid not to futureproof all the assets anyways.

I know what point you're trying to make, but even that looks better than the original areas so far. There's no design sense behind any of the new shit and it's a ton of wide open space and wasteful rendering that drags everything down. Literally the FFXIV problem all over again.

I have no doubt the UI screenshots taken on their development pcs look fucking ace. But at this point what are you gonna do? They probably underestimated how fucking weak the ps4 is.

There's no fucking way this shit is going to hit day one and have such a clear disparity between the tooltip screenshot and the actual game. It's not possible.

Even clouds hair gets downgraded when the render load is too high. I lowkey suspect it's because the midgar pizza is visible constantly from the slum and that's messing up the lods? I mean this part of the game looks way too rough.

Nah man, if nothing else you can make the upper plate a really goddamn simple piece of geometry on those maps and cull parts of it whenever it's not on camera (FFXIV does this). The actual environments have too much extraneous bullshit in them loaded in at once, causing the level of detail to plummet.

Wanna bet on it? Some of the tooltip screenshots even got better lighting. So it's probably running on better hardware (rtx or ps5)

It doesnt even look bad in motion. The game has very pretty backgrounds and scenery, also pretty good lightning. Not every game that looks good is about textures.
Either way, its pretty clear that ps5 and PC will look even better. No biggie.
