im stuck due to a bug that crashes my game whenever i leave town, but i've been having a fucking blast.

Most games these days focus on the moment to moment gameplay. Mount and blade is more of an over all immersive experience where you slowly build up an army, join kingdoms, destroy dynasties, take a castle for yourself and conquer the world, etc. The arrow shooting isnt the draw of the game

just buy a modern cpu. you can run the game with a ryzen 1200 which costs like 80 bucks, as long as you're not using some old ass LGA/AM3 type cpu.

I've put in 12 hours so far. I don't have experience with the first game, I just know of it and how it's a sandbox medieval simulator that is beloved. So far I can't say that I'm blown away. It's fun, but it's not the level of amazing Yas Forums makes it out to be, let alone waiting how long for it to come out, 10 years? I feel like where I'm at, after 8 - 12 hours of play, you'll have basically experienced everything there is to offer. I've raided many bandit camps, sacked towns, sieged castles, done many quests (most of which are soulless and unrewarding), purchased shops, joined armies, made allegiances, talked to many NPCs (who normally have very limited interactions or no dialog options at all). I don't get it. OK game, but it's not spectacular, and it's very clearly early access. The foundation of this game is good and there's a lot of potential here, and maybe future patches and the mod community is what makes Mount & Blade so good, which I could see, but the vanilla experience of this game is pretty bare. Can anyone confirm or deny if modding is where this game really shines? Yas Forums seems to suck this game's dick so hard I can never get real feedback on it.

the game's been out a day in early access. there's a workaround i've found but i'd rather just wait until the devs fix it and not risk losing my save. i can still play multiplayer

how is the game 'bare'? what are you using as a barometer? compare it to any recent total war game and the level of depth in bannerlord shines. the only other comparable sandbox is kenshi.

Modding is definitely where it shines. Most of my hundreds of hours in Warband were spent in the most popular mods like Prophesy of Pendor, AD1257, Perisno, etc. Modding for warband still stands up today for how much it expands the base game and assets.

I would disagree if you're saying that bannerlord isn't at least better than average, especially for $40 and early access. But the real hype now that it's 8 years later and we've seen many sandbox games is the modding potential.
