Fuck Steam
Fuck DRM
Fuck proprietary software
Fuck Steam
Nah Steam is pretty based and so is Valve. I don't give a fuck if it's technically DRM because if I was so autistic about having DRM-free games I would buy from GoG or pirate. Steam provides me with a feature-rich platform for buying games, interacting with friends, and seeing user reviews and downloading mods and community content so it is a product that brings me value.
Everything you mentioned was easily managable before Steam and other platforms.
Yeah and Steam makes it easier and better. What is your point?
holy shit this is why nobody takes pcpoors seriously. I'll pirate alyx, and seed it for 1 whole month without playing it, just because of your shit ass comment user.
Fuck temporary licensing rights too.
>Building a game library for cheap
>Before Steam
Stop lying.
a whole month. what a fucking amateur.
No one gives a shit.
>implying valve games dont bomb in less than 3 weeks
Also fuck removing game content like they did with Grand Theft Auto or Alan Wake.
>Cries about Steam being a DRM platform
>When Valve's flagship game of the decade was cracked within 45 minutes of being released
Your logic is truly infallible
Should I take the Stallmanpill and only play Super Tux Kart and Ren'Py games for the rest of my life
>intrusive and useless drm and forced online stores are ok because piracy exists
good goy
ok boomer
Why are you using the boomer meme image?
If you have a problem with any of these things, your real issue should be pirates. None would exist if not for them.
you are worse then consoleniggers
Why did you only list steam? How about game disks like what ever console uses.
>Intrusive
Surely you can validate such a claim.
>Forced online stores
Good, I'm sure this directly contributed to Gamestop's current financial situation.
Seething.
It was also the first step for loot boxes, payed mods, microstransactions and always online single player games etc.
Based
>Fuck proprietary software
What, do you only play open source video games?
>Half-Life 2 is here!
>but you have to install this online only thing to use it
>and create an account for single player game
How did you react back then?
it was literally as easy as buying physical games
now you cant even do that because most stores dont stock pc games and if they do its just a fucking steam key
>be zoomie zoom zoom
>think hl2 wasn't an embarassment to fps gaming
>vehemently defend a monopolist so he can pay more than he would in brick and mortar stores
hi cuck!
I boycotted it. played it years later (pirated, obviously) and figured out it was really fucking shit and din't understand why ppl installed steam.
>be doomie doom doom
>get mad about good games and reliable service platforms for no other reason than to get (you)s on message boards
hi mentally ill person!
how to detect a zoomer:
physical games were cheaper dumb cuckold. AAA PC gameso were literally 20-30 euro in 3 months time. Moron. Try that shit with steam now that there is no competition anymore and no price to physically storing the games.
I'd rather not have a physical copy of every game in my library. Keeping up with CDs is tedious and installations were slow. It was fine for it's time but I'm glad we moved on.
Windows is a good OS.
I still clearly remember the outcry but everyone's brain was washed by bullshit consumerism since then.
I always wondered what other people do when they don't have internet to use steam to download those games. Digital is fine and the other half of physical, but I don't think it's outmoded physical at all.
>how to detect a zoomer
I'm 31 fucko
>20-30 euro
That's a lie but also more than what I pay now. Keep seething nigger
Man physical PC games were DIRT cheap in the 90s and early 2000s. I wish I had kept my collection.
I literally bought DAS for 5 and HOMM V: all DLC luxury edition for 5. I said 2-3 months dumb nigger. No wonder you have no clue about brick and mortar store pricing. you're too lazy to move ur ass outside.
If heaven exists, and you die, you might have some explaining to do when Petrus asks you about how you've spent your time on this good earth defending a DRM platform.
>Fuck proprietary software
Which open source games are worth a play?
Shit man sometimes I could buy 3 amazing PC games for 10 euro. Shit was so cash. I'm amazed how Yas Forums collectively forgets how steam jacked up prices after their initial good sales. Such a microsoft move.
Didn't like it, but I had broadband at the time so didn't impact me too much. Also the updates were neat.
yes? now the problems you mentioned are gone due to piracy.
I love Tux Racer.
I remember going into Kmart and just filling my arms with x-wing, tie fighter, doom 2 and quake for like the price of a warm meal. All in those big, glorious boxes filled with pamphlets and literature. Shit is so soulless now.
Yeah I like paying more and no longer owning my games! Thanks a lot for helping me enjoy this user! Cuck.
fuck yeah, it was so much fun just looking at the boxes and reading the fun manuals. Sometimes you had big world maps too. I really liked my MM:6 world map.
If you own more than 300 games on Steam you're a fucking degenerate consoomer.
I have this many, what am I?
>3992 games on Steam
Every time I see this guy now all I can think of are my boomer parents and all their boomer friends posting top text - bottom text memes with him on their facebooks.
How bad do you wish you were me? I own all these games on steam and you don't
>owning games
>steam
pick 1
Based
Cringe
>owning games
>proprietary
pick 1
>there are people that still hate on Steam in 2020
Steam is objectively the best thing for consumers in the gaming space
When will Yas Forums stop hating fun? Is there ever a point where you look at yourself in the mirror and wonder what went wrong in your life for you to hate on absolutely everything?
steamcucks truly are the dumbest fanbase out there. even pokemon posters can't touch on their intellectual desert.
cuck
>the best thing for consumers in the gaming space
disgusting
I look at my mirror and see an absolute chad that has all the games for free and for ever without shitty DRM that fries his CPU
i wasn't thrilled about it but i was a massive hl1 fan and caved in pretty quickly
They literally lost the rights papers in the archives, otherwise they will produce a 3, they said it. Sad.
Half-Life 2 got me into PC gaming. I was a consolefag before it, so it wasn't a massive issue for me.
The only thing good about Steam is that all the games push updates to your PC
no more playing an outdated version for years because you didn't know an update fixed that one annoying bug that you can work around, but didn't feel the need to search forums to fix.
thank god.
seething OSSlet
it's a double-edged sword though because your games can get also rockstar'd and stripped of expired licensed content
>takes 80% from developers
tyrants the whole lot of em
Steam takes a 70% cut and the developers actively chose to sell the game on Steam though? They could easily self-publish. For comparison Wal-Mart and Gamestop buy games wholesale for $30 and sell them for $60.
neck yourself corporate cuck
.Steam takes a 30% cut and the developers actively chose to sell the game on Steam though? They could easily self-publish. For comparison Wal-Mart and Gamestop buy games wholesale for $30 and sell them for $60.
Steam takes 30% dunce.
