Am I missing something?

Am I missing something?
I think I fell for the hype, this is a fucking chore to play and I'm not having any fun.

Attached: rdr2.jpg (1080x1080, 208.14K)

it's a game that doesn't respect your time, is all. Not for everyone.

So I need to just force myself to play before I enjoy it or is it one of those deep experiences that I'm supposed to enjoy after it's done?
I honestly don't get it - I really loved the first one.

Nah it's not really deep. It's a pretty stock western, so the only way you're going to get anything out of it is if you're personally super interested in the period and setting. In the absence of all that I'd just drop it and move along.

It's a game that's designed for you to become so invested in it you have to finish it.

ok i guess ill tell you since youre too retarded to figure it out - if youre not having fun do something else you enjoy instead

>bro, RDR2 boring
>bro, RDR2 kino

Do you guys will ever find another way of starting RDR2 threads?

spread your message across the whole chan retard. this site is dead.

RDR 2 is overrated garbage. Clunky, overly linear and nothing to do in the open world.

I'm so bored playing this game. I'm stuck on the shit with Rains Fall, I can't bring myself to keep playing

>playing games for fun
lol

I've had more fun in 3 hours with Bannerlord than I have in 18 so far in RDR2. It's also such a pretentious game that it makes me cringe.

If the appeal doesn't set in immediately it probably just isn't for you

>Yas Forums is one person
when will people stop peddling this

Don't finish it. RDR2 is the biggest buyer's remorse i had in recent years.

Dropped that shit before I got out of the snow area. Game made me sleepy.

WHERE IS MY FREE COPY TIM YOU PIECE OF SHIT

It's dogshit. Finished the story recently (after buying in 2018) and wasn't worth it at all.

Lol still haven’t finished it and i was hyped as shit and played it at midnight release but the last part with the tuberculosis where your health bar etc. is affected is just so goddamn tedious like seriously who thought that this would be a great idea i mean who plays video games to die of a respiratory disease i mean we have that shit irl already so fuck off rockstar and gta6 better modernize because this last gen gameplay and mission structure really is starting to piss me off

You could have watched this movie on youtube for free

It's a masterpiece

If you can't get immersed in the world/story, you're going to have a bad time.

It's pure zoomer repellant.

It’s pretentious crap. Rockstar has had the same writing team since GTAIV and they’ve worked on everything from Max Payne 3 to RDR2. Every game has the same tone, vernacular, literary complexity, etc. I can’t stand to listen to it anymore.

It was one of my most anticipated games for years. I played RDR to death, even 100% it including the DLC and online. I was so disappointed with how they made 2. The writing is so clumsy, most of the characters don’t feel like their RDR1 counterparts, and most of the story is inconsequential filler. The gameplay is just bad. Slow, tedious, and filled to the brim with pointless micro-interactions that do nothing to enhance the experience. I made it up to the point where you have to do a bunch of work for the indians and just quit. I decided if I wasn’t having fun after 20 hours then I probably wasn’t going to have fun, period.

It's a humongous letdown. It's part of the reason I don't play open world games anymore

>he bought it
lmfao you fell for the meme

Stick to fortnite games like RDR2 and Witcher 3 aren't for you

Yeah kinda this, I only got invested around chapter 3 and I started having fun progressing through the story. Can't say the gameplay is very inspired though. I like the gunplay but it's not amazing or anything.

It's the story that compels you to push through the chores you dimwit. I would'nt have gone an hour in if it were not for the story.

lmao get fucked

The story is trash. The only good thing about the game is exploration.

It's definitely not a game for everyone.
It's a game that forces you to take your time interacting with the systems at hand. If you're okay with that it can be a very immersive experience. But you've got to get into the mindset of immersing yourself in the character and role. Sheltering when a storm comes, taking a sec in the morning to drink some coffee--not because you have to but because it's comfy to exist in the world. It's a game as much about the beauty of the west as is about the story.

If you're trying to play it like GTA you're going to have a bad time. And really that's the main problem with the game... There's a complete disconnect between the shooting and mission design and every other aspect of the game's presentation.

>you've got to get into the mindset of immersing yourself
More like you've got to get into the mindset of constant input for hours with little to no progress

This is complete bullshit. The player has to get out of the intro part in the snow. That part is absolute garbage. It's not until the game opens up with exploran that the true magic begins.

Not everything is about progress man. It's a game that is very much about the journey, not the destination. If you don't enjoy riding through the beautiful landscapes, living a life of freedom, and just want to get from one objective to the next, then the game isn't for you. And that's okay.

>Not everything is about progress
Exactly. Remember when there was a leak from Rockstar about getting people psychologically addicted to a game based on nothing but constant inputs for hours?

This. Game feels like an endless loop of do this, then that, and then they're on an island, and then it all collapses.
Worst idea they had was making it a prequel. Before the player even buys the game we know that Arthur is doomed from the start because he has absolutely no mention or presence in RDR1 . The player can sympathize with him to an extent but can't really relate or have any hope for his story like we did with John in RDR 1because we know there isn't any.
I was so disappointed by the game. The map is needlessly large and empty. Hunting, for whatever fucking reason, is like the main focus outside of doing story tasks and it is tedious, boring, and provides little to no incentives in its rewards. The law enforcement is broken and spawn wherever and whenever a crime is committed no matter the circumstances.
Huge disappointment. My most anticipated game for years and it met none of the hype.

You mean like every game that isn't just cutscenes strung together>?

>You mean like every game
Every game has an internal leak about how they're trying to psychologically manipulate people into liking shitty games?

Boring game that shits on history

I dont even play the story I just larp as a cowboy for an hour and turn it off

Same.

If you played the first one there is 0 reason to play this one

You're an eternal zoomer with ADHD.

>RTX 2060 Super
>32 GB RAM
>i7 8700k

>only gets 60fps on high settings at 1080p

why is this shit acceptable?

I've enjoyed many games that I hated at first. RDR2 wasn't one of them.

Dont ever put witcher 3 in the same category as rdr2 retard the witcher 3 is an actual game

Easily the biggest disappointment of the generation for me.

>story
Hmm this is a prequel and only a couple of these guys are in RDR I wonder what could happen....

So for anyone who's been struggling with finding this engaging or fun but loves the look and aesthetic experience it offers... What can you do to make it feel better? Any tips? Any settings you just HAVE to adjust that are not explained or focused on to improve your experience? I got a beefy PC and it runs like a charm, but I'm not sure what to do with this game. Also who the fuck thinks that hold to accept is a good idea should be fired. I fucking hate all about that considering how much of interact/use is there in this game.

>What can you do to make it feel better?
Wait for mods... oh wait...

>hur dur me no enjoy story in game me only like minmaxing and consooming information

The story is worse than in GTA V.

It's a big bait and switch. I enjoyed chapter 2 but after that it just turns into oppressed niggers, oppressed women, oppressed latinos on cuba and oppressed woo woo men. I can't get past the bit with the indians either. I gave the game it's first strike when the main character had to go on a women's lib march.
Unbelievable

It's in 1899 user

Outlaws
Gunslingers
Women's Lib March
Don't be obtuse, user, the tone is wrong.

It was played for humor. Every rockstar game has a few non-action humorous missions.

So which is it? The '1899' excuse or the 'comedy' (lmao) excuse? From chapter 3 onwards the game forces modern day sensibilities and politics constantly. Not a good idea in a cowboy shooty game.

Why would you compare RDR2 to garbage like the witcher 3?
