Post games with explicit step-by-step, color-coded, animated tutorials.
Games that treat the player like a retard
your incel life
rekt
*that 80% of people still fail to understand
its a pc game, which means you're online. all this does is save the player the hassle of looking up a youtube video for it. for the people who want to figure this stuff out on their own, this is simple shit once you can see what's going on, theres no strategy to figure out on your own. the gameplay is maintaining the distance and executing, not figuring it out.
nothing wrong with this pop-up tutorial, although i admit they could have found better ways to show the mechanics. then again, this is doom; subtlety is not really part of the recipe
And yet people complain about how they don't know how to kill him
It seems like gaymers are even more retarded than id realized since a lot of people still got filtered by the game.
I find this agreeable. Even with instructions given you can fail a few times due to the difficulty.
The first thing I did was disabling the tutorials
10/10 game cope and seethe
Please tell me this is bait and the Nu Doom sequel doesn't hold your hand more than Nintendo games. Fucking embarrassing.
There's a lot of new mechanics that change how the game works. I literally just finished 2016 on Ultraviolence a week before I played Doom Eternal without dying once to enemies (a few times to falling) and Doom Eternal, on the same difficulty was kicking my ass left and right. Now they could either have not done this, in which case we'd be swamped in people complaining they can't finish the first few levels (let alone the Maurauder, my god), or we could have them in game, and turn them off if we don't want them.
>Game tells you how to play it.
>People still can't do it.
Just because you know how the mechanics work doesn't mean you'll be able to actually use them.
Seeing the Polygon journo blundering with Doom 2016 served as an eyeopener for id as a lot of people are retarded enough to need excessive handholding
How do nintendo games hold your hands? I actually found alot of them to do the total opposite. Especially old non botw zelda games. You need to figure alot of stuff by yourself instead of just the checkmarks in mdoern games.
A majority of the people who browse this board would have been unable to progress past the initial Marauder encounter had the strategy not been explicitly plastered onto their screen.
>imagine comparing this game to Dark Souls
A lot of people are retards. Just get over it.
You can disable the tutorial nigger
what i don't understand is id will pop up tutorials for literally everything you do in this game, that 99% of people will realize after the first encounter, yet think it's a good idea to put some switch in some far away corner you have to shoot in order to raise a platform or something just to progress..why? It's not a puzzle, it isn't testing my knowledge on anything. It's just "shoot the switch and raise the platform that could have already been raised without needing to shoot something you may look pass and end up spending 15 mins running around looking for what to do." I've been stumped about four times in this game because of stupid shit like this. "oh..there's a box in the corner that has one of those light switches you need to melee.." Why not just already have the box placed where it needs to be? Not once did i ever get stuck in 2016. The level design in this game is ass.
these kinds of tutorials are always lame
everything about the marauder could have been explained via gameplay somehow.
>shield is colour coded to look like another shield you see earlier, that is also invincible
>shield is always up instead of only appearing when you try to shoot him, so it's more obvious when he's vulnerable (the shield disappears), this also shows that you can hit him multiple times
you will inevitably have players who skip the text so they will be confused because the fight makes no sense. it's plain bad game design
Just to add a bit of variety.
imo they should base tutorials and tips on the difficulty setting.
Select very easy and you get OP's pic.
Select normal and you get a loading screen tip "Keep marauders and mid-range".
Select very hard and you get shit, figure it out yourself.
>projecting
ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM
Getting tired of all this hand holding.
I'm more annoyed about how they explain every single weakpoint to you. I can understand the first tutorial with the arachnoid and it's turret because that introduced weakpoints in general, but showing every single weakpoint for every enemy just made me feel like a smooth brain who can't even shoot stuff myself to find out what happens. It's even more insulting when they explicitly tell you that all the weakpoints are in the codex, so they think you're too retarded to even press TAB to learn more about demons with more conspicuous weaknesses.
I understand it just fucking fine, but you try to keep the son of a bitch centered on screen while having to also pay attention to the lesser demons that come along for the ride.
Ok, I lol'd. If only all of the demon tips were like this. It'd be a funny parody sort of thing.
Just disable it?
It's really annoying you are forced to see these retarded tutorials every time you load.
are you implying Dark Souls is hard?
I'm really upset they put a really faithful remake of the Cyberdemon's design in Eternal and then fucking renamed it
you're only going to disable it after it's already popped up enough times to annoy you, by that time the damage is already done. And because they're just spelling out the solution with these tutorials, it de-incentives them to make logical well designed boss enemies. If you disable that tutorial before fighting the marauder you're going to be wandering what the fuck to do and why this one specific enemy is just breaking all the rules. I'm tired of people just waving away bad design and handholding with "just turn the tutorial off..just turn the waypoint marker off.. just turn 'x' off"..No, you can't do that because the game was designed around 99% of players playing with those on.
>you're only going to disable it after it's already popped up enough times to annoy you, by that time the damage is already done.
I disabled them on the first level.
congrats 1%'er, they're still shit and shouldn't be in the game
Refer to
Arigato very mucho
I disabled them after the first level. Just why didn't YOU disable them if they were so out of place?
i told you why
As I said, you can just disable it even before you start the game.
I don't see the problem with this kind of stuff put on games if you can customize it.
starcraft 2
Pretty much applies to most modern games. Especially, AAA.
They fucked it up cause they already have Cyberdemon in 2016
Doesn't the game already allows you to turn it off from the start?
>just disable the waypoints in Oblivion
sure, the game doesn't tell you where to go otherwise or lend any directions like Morrowind did, but just turn the waypoints off. Don't see why the waypoints are a problem, after all the game lets you turn them off.
Imagine the average people's IQ, now realize that people are actually dumber than that.
i'm not turning off the tutorials before i even start the game. I want to know how to play it, doesn't mean i want the solution to every encounter spelled out to me.
>treat players like retards
>they still act retarded and ignore it
I have seen videos of people completely raging about it and ignoring the whole 'you can only attack when the eyes flash green' thing the game outright tell you.
>Not once did i ever get stuck in 2016.
Yeah but 2016 had the levers for the classic areas which were the same sort of pixel hunt bullshit. Or worse, since they didn't have any lights on them.
>not looking at the marauder during the fight
"why am i getting hit, i don't get it"
>i'm not turning off the tutorials before i even start the game. I want to know how to play it, doesn't mean i want the solution to every encounter spelled out to me.
>I'm not going to go through the hassle of doing a thing that suits my preferences. I want the developers to bend to my every whim on how this game is made.
What would you prefer? That they let you die 20 times in a row to figure this out? No, shit like this prevents the need to look up guides on your own and informs you about enemy ai, which is vital to improving your play. Stop bitching.
You're getting this for every single fucking enemy. Usually before you even get to see them for the first time. At least the game doesn't go full on turbo retard for everything like the chainsaw tutorial, where they have to put you into a seperate training area just to press C in front of a zombie.
Nobody ever uses flame belcher on him for free damage/armor
>Controller
I knew DSP was retarded but I didn't think it was that bad.
So what? That particular design doesn't come back in Eternal, and the Tyrant borrows a lot from the 2016 Cyberdemon's moveset, it would be perfectly fine to keep the name
You do understand that, without knowing beforehand, the game might introduce new gameplay elements which are very well worth mentioning in tutorials. I would never have guessed that fucking Doom has wallclimbing now, for example. Disabling everything is retarded in that case.
The dog is honestly the hardest fucking part of the fight
Marauder still can be pretty tough to beat but I play on console not a PC mouse and keyboard faggot.
This. Wanting to know about the game's basic controls and any additional mechanics that warrant instruction doesn't equate to wanting to have the solution to every encounter completely spelled out for you.
>I want the developers to bend to my every whim on how this game is made.
yes you retard that's what good game design is
There's an option to turn off all tutorials in the menu, but you're better off leaving them on because there's so many new things in Eternal.
Okay so lets say they did remove it. The player would blindly run at said enemy with the supershotgun and die the moment said enemy does the large amount of damage they're designed around like flamethrowers or biting. What did that accomplish? They died and figured out the thing that particular demon does. A tiny-ass tutorial saves them from throwing themselves at them with reckless abandon and having to look up what the character does and just presents the same exact information but faster. If the game didnt tell you the marauder was resistent to super weapons, how many BFG shots would you have fired to try to kill him, especially with his shield up? You would have done it at least once because you wouldn't have known the BFG wouldn't work. There's a difference between hand-holding and providing vital information about the way something works.
Well you can suck my dick. Guess you're a pretty good game developer.
>Step by step of how to kill the demons
>People still get filtered
How??
God this game is unplayable without turning tutorials off and even then it's full of ''look at shiny thing get it/do a jump here/use a glory kill now, user! Hurray, you did it!''
Level designs are absolutely garbo
It doesn't give you the instructions on how to actually beat him in a timely manner with weapon switching though.
And the doom hunter tutorial is downright misleading because attacking his shields is a total waste of time.
