It's not the true ending because it can't be the end all be all of your save file. Once you've done everything there is to do in the game, genocide can't be undone, so genocide is the true and canon ending. Deltarune seems to be placed in an alternate universe and will probably dabble with this. Your choices don't matter so even if you have a clean, pacifist only Undertale on your PC, it will read it and mention so, but let you know it doesn't matter because the Genocide of the prime universe is canon.

How would humanity react to a long sealed away civilization coming back? Especially with the racial tension considered before the war. They’d immediately get treated like they were the spawn of Satan. Also considering Asgore killing all those kids years ago it’d make it even worse.

Toriel only helped Asgore but then left when she couldn’t take it anymore.

Asgore is the one that kills the kids. There's only been like 6 kids is the underground and all of them were killed by asgore himself.

Toriel only fights you because she's sick of seeing humans leave the ruins to be killed. This implies that she's let them leave in the past.

Everything else in this post aside, Toriel says that she inspects the ruins every day in case somebody fell down. The longer I consider this, the less sense it makes. She didn't replace that pile of leaves with a big mattress or something else huge and safe and soft? And really, it never occured to her at any point to come up with a way to help those who fell down get back out? No ladder? No ropes? No kind of magic? She really does just want to keep a human to herself, she's not good. Hopefully a child, clearly, from how she smothers and mothers you. If she really wanted to protect you from Asgore then a ladder should have been her biggest priority.

Asgore was a perfectly challenging final boss, especially for a game that wasn't particularly hard. The problem is that he wasn't the final boss for the true ending. The true ending final boss was a glorified cutscene, like that other user said.

Didn't they imply the barrier would keep anyone that falls in from going out regardless of where you try to exit from? Otherwise why wouldn't ASSgore just dig through a wall somewhere else instead of focusing on breaking the barrier in that one spot?
