Is this the best BioShock?

no, system shock 2 is

Only if you're a contrarian.

1 > Infi > 2 is the general consensus, reflected by reviews, social media etc.

Other than the setting and a stronger protagonist Infinite is the worst of the 3 modern ones

> 1> infinite> 2
Literally who says this?
2 is way better than infinite.

Gave me most feels

1 is the best in terms of originality, impact on the "Industry", and writing.
2 is the most polished. Not as original and ground-breaking as 1, but with a better pacing, a more emotional tone, and a better flowing gameplay.

Infinite is almost entirely irredeemable.

True list coming in:
1>Minerva's Den>Infinite>2

Review-wise. Yeah, absolutely. But in hindsight, I'd say 2 is probably more satisfying to play than Bioshock 1 in terms of combat. Everyone was outstanded by 1's plot and atmosphere which won it over as the best of the series meanwhile 2 focused on the gameplay aspects and improved upon those in my opinion.
Infinite tries to be like 1 with the twists and atmosphere but it doesn't quite pull it off. I think if a lot of fans didn't already know how much of the game got stripped down they wouldn't have been so disappointed.

>infinite is irredeemable
As a bioshock game, yes. But as a standalone, its pretty gud. The story was ok at best, but with alot of tweaks, it could be compelling and interesting.

>reflected by reviews, social media etc.
imagine caring what paid jounralists and paid shills on social media tell you about any product, any year, in any market.

Yes

I always hated that saying: "It is a good game but not a good X game"
But after playing Bioshock 1 and 2 HOLY SHIT Infinite is a pile of turd in comparison, the game is quite fun but not a good BS game.

System Shock 2 > Bioshock > Burial At Sea 1 and 2 > Infinite > System Shock > Bioshock 2

These are the facts

>Bioshock 1 story metacriticism of Ayn Rand objectivism and right-wing economic theory.
>Reviews: GOTYAY. 10/10. Best in the series!
>Bioshock 2 story metacriticism of communism and left-wing social theory. Also has better gameplay.
>Reviews: Meh. 7/10 at best. Don't bother, not worth your time.
Really makes ya think.

the wasted potential alone should be enough to throw it away.
>"dude just MENTIONING systemic racism, religion, and muh multiverses is already a major narrative breakthrough"

it was a blatant exemple of writers jerking themselves off without really producing a compelling story. the gameplay is forgettable and all the fun plasmids are the fucking same.

the only cool thing is the design of the world, but Rapture was better in that regard. There's also plenty of blatant smoke-and-mirrors effects to make the world look bigger.
I don't think it would even work as a stand-alone game. Something like Starcraft II compared to Starcraft is a good comparison for that, but for me Infinite is mediocre in itself.

Oh god shut the fuck up faggot

Is anything I said incorrect?

>2 is the most polished. Not as original and ground-breaking as 1, but with a better pacing, a more emotional tone, and a better flowing gameplay.
seconding this. the main reasons bioshock 2 got hated on were
1) the setting and gameplay were very similar to 1, so some people who bought it right away felt like they paid $60 for a "mission pack sequel".
2) the plot twist was a big part of 1's popularity. some players were disappointed that 2 didn't have an equally large twist.

Gameplay
2 = MD > 1 > shit > infinicrap
Story
1 = MD > 2 > shit > infinicrap

yeah, 2 isn't about a twist, it's about making you feel something.
and back in 2014 when I first played it, I did feel something.

Yeah, the only clever part of 2's story involves having to be familiar with 1's twist. Sinclair being a similar industrious businessman who leads you across the game and manages to not betray you.

What's MD?

Minerva's Den

Minerva's Den, arguably the best piece of Bioshock content, takes the gameplay from 2 while also having a great plot twist like in 1, the only flaw is that it's fairly short but it can also be seen as a positive since it's basically a condensed bioshock game, short but sweet so depends how you look at it

Ah, thanks. Never played the dlc. Bioshock in general was a bit of a let down for me compared to SS2 so I wasn't all that interested in playing more of it at the time. Should I go back and check them out?

Thanks, answered my question from here lol

What's so good about Bioshock 2 anyway? All i remember was that playing as a Big Daddy didn't feel as cool as i thought it would when playing Bioshock 1 and that the story was extremely uninteresting.

Finally tried 2 recently and am I playing it wrong? Despite being a big daddy (of sorts) you're even more fragile than the protag in 1, you get 2-3 shot by some hobo splicers on normal.

Does it get better or it's just like this all the way through?

can play with plasmids AND guns. better gunplay, a few more interesting enemies, levels being slightly better designed (from memory, I didn't play Bioshock since 2016 at least).

the story wasn't that unintesting to me. It had a more subdued tone and tried to play too much on the emotional cord, but to me it was an OK story. Made me feel something.

Bioshock 2 is much harder. It gets better because you can play with plasmids AND guns and you'll get more upgrades.

Actually, you know what, i was trying to remember why i played Bioshock 2 so much even though the story didn't do much for me and i remembered the multiplayer, that shit was top tier.

It gets better. Anytime I start it up I'm always surprised by how weak you are at the start. After a little while you get your footing and it ends up being much easier. Once you get the shotgun it is smooth sailing.

I hear Bioshock 2 is unplayable on pc with constant crashes. Is that true?

Dunno, the remaster ran fine for me. You get both versions though, so at least one of them is bound to work on your machine.

I'll take that as a "no."
Thanks for shutting the fuck up yourself faggot.

I played the original version of 2 recently and it ran with no issues on windows 10, not sure about the remaster

Well, ill disagree with the standalone detail. All im saying is, if the story was tweeked and it wasnt a bioshock ip, it could have worked. The gameplay was ok, but needs tweeking
>i get saying "it needs tweeking" is a copout, but in this case, its true for that game.

Yes, it's genuinely the best of the series.

System Shock that low down? I would make you eat in the kitchen away from my other guests you absolute pleb

It's hard to say Bioshock 1 was "against" objectivism, you can tell Ken Levine really admired it.
There's very little "right-wing" about Ryan aside from the objectivism, and it's got hardly anything to do with the "right-wing" you'd encounter in real life.

Also Bioshock 2 isn't about communism, it's about anglo philosophies and utilitarianism.
There's almost no discussion of Marx or economic theory at all, the game's *not about* that.

1>2>>>>>>>infinite
2 has better gameplay but 1 is overall a more memorable experience.
Infinite has too many problems to count.

Are we playing the same fucking game?
I've heard about this saga since the beginning and never bothered to play it until this day, I'm playing Bioshock 1 (non remastered, so I can see if its truly the SOUL version), and I've never played a bigger piece of shit in my life.

>You get a shitton of ammo and health, making the stores completly useless
>The hacking minigame
>No ironsights, the crosshair works like absolute shit if you're using anything else than revolver
>You get money throw into your face CONSTANTLY, I just beated wilkins and I had to buy something because I hit the cap 2 times
>The fucking hacking minigame
>The maps are small as FUCK, and completly linearly, the parts that arent linear are just quick escape routes, the most similar concept to this shit is the skyrim dungeons
>Since the map is so small, the enemies respawn right in your fucking face, wander 2 fucking steps of a map and suddenly there's 2 splicers in your back, without making sounds or anything

shoo shoo zoomie

>THE ABSOLUTE SHIT MINIGAME, IT'S EVERYWHERE DUDE
>And it's not even properly coded considering you can get a layout where you cant fucking solve it!
>The story, until now, has been fucking retarded
>ATLAS: MUH WIFE DUDE
>*Walk 3 steps*
>ATLAS: I JUST SAID MY WIFE DUDE LISTEN TO ME I MISS HER AND HER BOYFRIEND'S SON TOO
>Ryan: hehe im such a bad boi cia dog
Take off your nostalgia googles retards, this piece of shit came out at the same time than HL2:EP2, Crysis, Mass fucking effect, ASS creed, GOW2, and i'm pretty sure the only reason it has popularity it's because some fucking twist where normies had their jaw dropped

man i could keep on talking but no one plays videogames in this board anyway

The remaster of BS1 ran over my dog and killed my family, I'd say avoid the remasters unless the originals don't work on your PC.

Defend this position while NPC does something: The Game

Do you realize it's an early xbox 360 era console shooter?

Yes. I feel that it's the best because it doesn't get all wrapped up in social philosophy and had more emotional aspects to it.

When is Bioshock 4 coming out?

Attached: bioshock___big_daddy_by_austh-d3g3wjw.jpg (800x800, 198.5K)

i gave some examples of games that came out in the same year and dont suck a massive cock

Hard to believe this. Isnt the gone homo soi team the ones who made 2?

Fuck man, that ending damn near broke me. Poor guy.

No. It was just a System Shock 2 rehash for zoomers. Bioshock 2 is a much better game. It's still easy as fuck but at least it wasn't a simplified SS2.

Yes, if you're a tasteless zoomer.

>Is this the best BioShock?
For fans of the series yes.

+play as big daddy
+little sisters look better
+eleanor calling you daddy was heartwarming
+learning more about the world and how little sisters see the world and stuff was nice

i wish the story of infinite held up better, because the aesthetic is prime and i like vigors more than plasmids. in terms of story, character development it’s bioshock 1. bioshock 2 i didn’t like any of the characters, Eleanor was just okay, and idk why in the “good” ending without harvesting the little sisters the bitch who tried to kill you literally from the get go lives

>and idk why in the “good” ending without harvesting the little sisters the bitch who tried to kill you literally from the get go lives
Because Elanor has seen you go around sparing people that tried to kill you or sold you out, like Grace or the journalist

worst

Infinite doesn’t even count. What a shit game.

>rehash of the first game is better than infinite
sure dummy

retard

This. And pitfall is the best Mario game

2 felt a lot less novel, but it didn't really "rehash" anything. Its story had a completely different tone and underlying philosophy. The levels were distinctive enough from the first game, and the game play itself was just an improvement on what 1 did. Infinite wishes it could be a rehash. Infinite does everything worse than its predecessors, perhaps with the exception of the art style, if you like its kind more.

Calling something a rehash means fuck all for the assessment of the quality
