Absolutely based, Pop Virus was my safehouse music of choice as well, I wish more of Gen Hoshino's music was in this because this got me listening to more of his stuff looking for the same comfy vibes. I never managed to get Timefall Porter back in the safehouses after I drank too much of it though.

those songs by low roar and the ambient stuff when sam is either walking or taking a nap is 10/10. the game has so much breathing room that when a song comes on it really sets the scene but doesn't overdo it. having music all the time would ruin the quiet moments.

Death Stranding is one of the few games to actually take ground traversal seriously. The only game where you can honestly say it's about the journey and not the destination, without it being a cop-out. Practically every other game about exploration has you mindlessly holding up between pieces of content.

sam has a walkman type of device and headphones but you have no control over when it plays as of now. maybe the dlc will add something. like the other user said, safe houses let you listen to any tune you've unlocked by playing.

It truly is an amazing experience unlike anything else. All the individual parts may seem generic or boring on the paper, but the way they're structured and joined makes all the difference.

One time it's a comfy stroll across pretty vistas.
Next moment you are playing a spooky stealth game.
Then, you may find yourself in the middle of epic action.
Only to be followed by comfy (re-)building of long lost roads and aiding players to finish their structures.

Some folks called it "Japanese STALKER", which isn't too far off. It's still it's own thing under the hood.

This too. Folks meme about "lol walking sim!" stuff, but honestly this game SIMULATES all sorts of challenges and features of traversal in an all new manner.
Rather than just pressing up and homing-in towards your next objective, you really need to "watch your feet" and preferably keep your eyes on the next ~10 meters of terrain instead.
All this, while having to take into account your own survival stuff and worry about your cargo's condition.

Okay look I love this game, played mgs1 when I was 5 yrold ok but the past 10+ years are a disgrace for this company, Death Stranding was not a journey across America it was like going to an out of the way store. 400 odd hrs in btw 350 odd LL's too, they need to fire the MGSV level developers and do better in future.
