I've never understood the whole "this game would be so much better as an MMO" mentality, MMOs are literally the lowest form of gaming in existence. Just because it has multiplayer doesn't make it good.

A year or two ago this dude named Billy Cobb made an EP called Zerwee, intending to sound as much like 90s Weezer as possible because Weezer doesn't want to sound like 90s Weezer. Cobb didn't put together sounds because he liked them, he put together sounds because that's what he thought Weezer would've done.
That's what Temtem really reminds me of.

What they want with the whole MMO thing is to have a dick measurement contest, they want a pokemon game were players can be gym leaders or the ledeaders of their own evil team or even members of the elite 4.

In reality going by the way the game mechanics work this would end up being fucking boring because very single person would use the same cookie cuter teams in order to win these tittles, not to mention that pokemon has such a large playerbase there is no way to make a system to decide who deserves those titles that is both engaging and fair.

Nobody thought it will kill pokemon. Just give the PC a reasonable clone and maybe send a message to Gamefreak to clean their shit up. If a actual Indie developer could out do them then they have no fucking excuse with their multi billion dollar franchise money, 4 years of development time, and 150 staff.

I dunno why I can still enjoy Pokemon but can't bring myself to get through TemTem. I don't really like the sound design nor graphics but neither of those things are really showstopper for me. Maybe it's because there are too many fucking NPC trainers all over the place who aren't challenging enough to enjoy battling but also can't be swept so you're constantly healing your monsters for what feels like underwhelming exp gain. I dunno, there's something Pokemon has which TemTem doesn't, but I don't know what that is (and it's not nostalgia). Pokemon feels like an adventure while TemTem feels like a job somehow.

Temtem designs are dogshit, from the world to the NPCs to the monster designs.

Grinding rewards players willing to put in the extra effort, and is a good way for players to challenge themselves by being underleveled. You can't do that in Pokemon anymore since your whole team levels up, and the only way to stop it is to constantly deposit and then withdraw pokemon in your team during before and after every single battle.

They haven't done any serious updates since early access started, mainly just bugfixes.
They did drop a roadmap but they won't even be adding real content until "summer 2020" which may as well be august 31st
