So is Hearthstone still a viable game in 2020 or is it just a meme at this point

So is Hearthstone still a viable game in 2020 or is it just a meme at this point

Wondering if now would be a good time to jump in or if I waited too long.

Just play Battlegrounds.

Wait until the new set rotation starts first.
Also it's still a meme but they finally introduced no duplicates for ALL rarities on cards packs now so at least it's nowhere near as grindy and jew-y anymore

I refuse to believe blizzard actually pays you to create threads about HS. Go jump off a bridge mental spastic

Yes

This.

Also they just rolled out a few things designed for new players including once you finish the tutorial you get a free “competitive” deck to start the ladder with. You also get a sequestered ladder until you hit a certain point so it’s hard for asshats to smurf you until you get the hang of it/get some cards.

Don’t spend money on it though - or at least give it a full expansion (4 months) and if you’re into it then buy the next expansion’s bundle.

The short answer is: like 95% of games it’s not to everyone’s tastes, so try it out and if you like it great. If you don’t it didn’t cost you a penny so cut bait and find something else.

Pros:
Cheaper to get into now
You get a free deck. Which is cute but they will just not stand up against someone who has equal skill but a better deck.
Cons:
Still dogshit.
Blizz still only care about standard
Wild is a fucking disgrace that is filled with degen aggro decks or decks that mana cheat around turn 6 and summon their entire deck.
And battlegrounds (meme gamemode) doesn't even use your cards.
After this week is over everyone will be running the same aggro bullshit deck with leeroy jenkins for the 24th meta in a row.

Just save your money so when the next flavor of the year card game comes out you can get a good collection.

You’re not wrong about Wild, but no brand new player is going to give a shit about the mode since they would have 0 Wild cards. I’ve been playing since KotFT and I’ve only just started giving Wild a go in the last few months.

And Battlegrounds not using your cards is also good *for a new player* since they have no collection yet. You’re on the same footing on day 1 as someone who’s played for 6 years.

Hello? Based department? They're finally adding a new class and it's op as fuck.

Kargath is a shit card and won't see any play btw

I prefer Teppen. Better mechanics, much less jewish, way better art.

Guaranteed nerf. The Wronchi video was hilarious though

do not give blizzard money under any circumstance

It's been a meme since launch
>No defender step
lel. Shit card game.

These changes sounds neat, but way too late. I played somewhat casually and free to play since the beta, but quit about 2 years ago, since they were making endless card expansions. With the old style of card packs, it was very frustrating to build competitive and interesting decks, instead of having the more expensive single player missions, that guaranteed some cards.
Also standard/ranked was pretty boring, since every cheese and strategy gets immediately copy pasted after every expansion release, so the meta was predefined and usually dull, especially if you don't want to run the same decks as everyone else.

>at least a 14 damage combo with 2 cards
>"hearthstone used to be better before all these expansions"
the meta these days is more diverse than ever with every class having multiple viable deck archetypes. They are literally giving out entire decks and loads of cardpacks for free. I've been playing hearthstone for years, completely f2p and it hasn't been hard at all to get cards.

It's still hyper dumbed-down Magic. Except now noone plays it. Some people play the shitty autochess, but that's about it.

Depending on how much you play, it is totally possible to create a strong deck, but if you are interested in the true potential of some combinations, you had to keep up with a lot of expensive cards to craft, especially epics would regularly stop me from experiment with certain decks. At the time there was just too much luck involved at making the decks I wanted, besides from some standard archetypes. And after finally being happy with the decks I had, it was usually not too long before the next expansion or rotation.
I don't know how diverse the meta nowadays is, but there were multiple times when the meta was broken, Jade druid meta being my most hated.

>They're finally adding a new class and it's op as fuck.
Is it really or is it just Death Knight 2.0

>So is Hearthstone still a viable game in 2020

Fuck no, it stopped being a "viable game" the year it came out.

Yeah there have always been some pretty cancerous decks. Druids always end up either being too weak or too strong desu. Spreading Plague Druid with the Death Knight Malfurion was also cancer.

I do think that trying to make your own decks kinda sucks when cards are so expensive, but I still enjoy the game regardless. I understand the frustration though :/ Blizzard always knows how to entice people to spend real money.

>Demon Hunter needs to be super-special and isn't going to follow the same color scheme of main color+gold as the other classes
As expected, but it still makes my autism flare up.

It's 16 damage+board, since your hero gets 2 attack as well. Now in combination with some early aggro minions and an innervate your could easily end the game turn 7

All CCG/TCG games are scam money pit garbage if you can pay, or horrific grindfests if you can't. If I see cards I walk the fuck away and you should too.

actually a new class. they added a fuckton of cards

Based Akama. The dude deserves a badass card after all the shit he's been through

>summon three 2/2 treants with charge
>savage roar gives +2 attack to all minions and your hero
>(2*3) + (2*4) = 14
check yourself

B-but Monks…

what made them change their mind? I thought they were analpained they started with nine classes because it was difficult to design cards distinct from each class

jade druid was the thing

Monk next set, death knight at the end of the year

that would be based, but i doubt that they'll make the next classes that quickly. Seems more likely that they'll wait an entire year between releasing classes
dunno. they have a completely different game director now so that might be part of it. they seem to be making lots of bold changes recently

rogue is looking op this expansion

Attached: BT_188.webm (286x395, 418.12K)

also this card is fucking insane

Was the Hall of Fame a right move for the meta?
I guess it's a way to prevent it from getting stale, but they'd also broken the one singular rule on Classic cards, which caused me to quit playing at that point

Attached: uwqp.gif (600x450, 1.59M)

Battlegrounds is shit though. Needs more build variety.

You get a full refund on the card though when it gets hall-of-famed anyways nigger. Yes it was the right move. When you see the same OP legendary being used over and over for years, you know it needs to be removed.

pic related is all the cards they're moving to Hall of Fame this week

Leeroy and MCT deserve it. Northshire Cleric is what mystifies me

Gigantic noob trap

Blizzard has stated that they intend for card draw to be one of Priest's biggest (by design) weaknesses.

Mind Control Tech is a relief, and also removing Divine Spirit finally enables us to get non shitty priest cards.

they seem to be trying to replace the card draw engine style of priest with a more thief-like card generation, so it's harder to guarantee getting combo pieces quick for degenerate OTKs

>Everyone has been wanting Arthas as a playable Deathknight hero + Undead tribe for years
>lmao can't do that because China
>oh and we're gonna censor Jaina's cleavage but here's 'shirtless male beefcake' hero portrait #4

Attached: 1548568102392.png (357x414, 313.98K)

No

>4 mana conditional deathwing with no hand discard.
Short of transform effects this is going to be nuts.

>can't attack on your round when it comes out of dormant
>enemy just destroys, polymorphs or whatever
>you wasted 4 mana on turn 4

very nice and epic

Rush being super available was a mistake.

yes

>Survey goes out gauging players interest in a TBC server
>Hearthstone gets a big 'MEMBER OUTLAND? expansion
Blizzard's desperation is palpable.

Seems a bit off for her. A more on character effect:

Deathrattle: Destroy a random friendly minion. If you do, resummon Yrel with +2+2 and Divine Shield for each time this effect has been activated

i have a few pictures of yrel saved but she has a fat horsecock on those
it's alright though because i fantasize about getting fucked by her with it and since imagination is limitless my intestines don't get ruptured and i just have a really long tunnel in my asshole instead of penetratable digestion tracts
the way it works is, the deeper she fucks me, the hornier i become, my pupils turning into heart shapes, naturally and so we are at it, fucking like horny rabbits for hours and hours, all in the blink of one imaginative thought

Fuck China.

Hearthstone respects the lore and setting more than WoW does

I remember being so into this game around 2016 or was it. Made it to legend using a zoolock deck. This is tempting, but they should have gone for a new class years ago with the lick king expansion

Attached: ?.jpg (549x188, 44.94K)

The last few expansions have been Marvel-tier though, I miss when Hearthstone just explored interesting what-if scenarios like Gadgetzan becoming a bustling port city or Old God cults not being a joke.

In terms of respecting the source material it goes;
HotS>Hearthstone>Classic>Retail>POWER GAP>Reforged

Vanilla HS servers when?

Attached: Shame.jpg (1680x1050, 644.02K)

I'll keep shilling for Zenonzard because it's pretty dang cool and not a lot of folks talk about it.
>Extra layer of deck design with picking two different passive skills that have their own HP pools that pull from your total
>Mana Shift system which allows you to move cards to and from your mana pool
>Can actually work as a physical card game in theory because it has no random card effects
>Uses its digital gimmick uniquely by having an AI companion you can select that plays with you, learns from you and can make suggestions in a match as well as during deck building
Only digital card game other than Teppen I've really managed to enjoy.

>play cairne bloodhoofe, play sylvanas
>win
vanilla hs was dogshit
