2. Alexander is shown to to be conniving and manipulative. Also, you can clearly see him enjoying all of Alex's ordeal. The camera focuses on him a really, really long time.

3. Kubrick said himself that it makes no sense making a movie about lynching if you can't show the audience that lynching is wrong even if the person deserves it.
