DMC4's pacing is too shit, even the better animations and higher skill ceiling for combos matter very little when only the Bloody Palace isn't suffering from all the huge issues present everywhere else

You know, the combofaggotry in DMC games was bearable up until people started to claim that 4 was better than 5 just because they could stay in the air and button mash against dogshit enemies as long as they wanted to.
Let me remind you of all the bad things that DMC4 gave us:

Pandora's only good moves are the netural and air attacks, the rest are worthless. The Shotgun is an even further downgrade from the DMC1 shotgun and does even less damage.

Nah dmc4 is good, but dmc5 is the mastered form. Give this game even just a couple more years and you'll start to see some even crazier shit than dmc4 from the japs; it's only beginning.

I had my first suspicions when I bought enemy step first priority and the enemies didn't drop over time and kept floating
Then I was concerned when the obvious reveal that was predicted months before the game came out happened at the end of mission 11, and "this entire plot is gonna be it, isn't it?" started setting in
Then Nero got his devil trigger, which is even the name of his song, on the last mission of the game, which felt like it was 2/3rds of the way, and then the game abruptly ended
Then I forced myself to play it for 80 more hours, feeling more and more that this isn't right
Then I tried playing with CE physics mods, but the Bloody Palace patch caused the game to start crashing constantly
And then the devs revealed that they removed reversals because "our tester did it on accident, and we didn't want people to do that", and also that they're done with the game and there won't be any patches to fix the game or DLC, so I uninstalled it and never looked back

5's mostly getting attention due to mods. Also japs even made MADS for DmC so that isn't saying much.

DmC is also a better game than 5.

What? I always loved DMC4. I would probably only put it behind NG as the GOAT action game and that is mostly because DMC4 Dante doesn't have his own levels to go through and lacks weapons although that briefcase is pretty damn incredible. Also NG is pretty damn near perfect so hard to really top that.

DMC4 is definitely the best DMC game despite its flaws. I honestly miss this genre. It hasn't been the same in a long time. Even GOW which was already a casual series compared to its competitors looks amazing now thanks to how even old GOW is too hardcore for today's casuals into nu-GOW.

I just finished 4. I played 3 over 10 years ago. What is so bad about 5? I've heard opinions that is the best in the series and sometimes the worst. I liked 4, I knew about a bunch of the crap going in like the lack of levels so I wasn't turned off by it.

DMC is such a fucking crappy series. The enemies exist as nothing but punching bags for your SMOKIN SICK STYLE combos. Nothing fights back. I mean literally, the regular mook enemies don't even fight back. The only things that fight are the bosses yet I have to go through boring as fuck sections of platforming and killing brain dead zombie like enemies to get to them. The 3D Ninja Gaiden games are way better.

You can't argue because you know I am right. Groups of enemies stand still and wait to be killed one by one, watching as you do your epic combo on their friends. There is no danger until you get to bosses, and they're only dangerous because most of them have mechanics to prevent from being comboed from 100% to 0, otherwise they would be the same.

Not really. I've beaten the game on SOS and DMD and they still really didn't block all too much and when they did their shield was easily breakable with helmbreaker

DMC4 isn't perfect. Dante doesn't get his own levels, the bosses while great get repetitive fighting them a third time, Dante lacks his weapons from 3, bloody palace isn't like in 3, SE came out many years later and the characters also don't have their own levels or bosses to fight.

it's not surprising that DMC5 is more casual than 4, it makes more sense to make it so nearly anybody can pick up the game and style after a few hours than to tailor the game to the top 1% of players. I'm not going to say I don't miss momentum and inertia and shit, and I wish the game at least came with fucking turbo mode, but I can accept the compromises in 5 because it was successful, and that makes more DMC more likely.
